fishinwrench Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 What exactly is marriage out of wedlock? Like getting married but not really? I got a buddy who just did that...you know who you are. Oh Geeze ! Didn't we settle this on a recent fishing trip? Why enter into a contract with the state of Missouri over who you choose to sleep with? Especially since regardless of who breeches the contract.... YOU loose the most ? Any man that signs that legal document thinking that he is doing the "right thing" is a blooming idiot. The whole idea of "legal wedlock" would have never gotten started in the first place (back in the day) if the only thing keeping some crackers from sleeping with their slaves was the fear of pissing off their preacher. Ridiculous, Pointless, Lawyer food !
Chief Grey Bear Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 I know you will call me a curmudgeon, but even as much as I hate modern country music, they never sing about killing cops, thug life, gangsta crap. Since I consider rap an art form spawned form the ghetto with lyrics that are created from a demographic who's out of wedlock birth rate is 80%; I personally don't consider rap music but noise. You asked................... ps. Love blues, Jazz, and Raggae That is it right there. They can't sing cause they have no talent. It is nothing more than poorly executed, talentless, mono toned poetry, and I use the term poetry very loosly on because of the rhyming. They do not sing. But I'll defend it as a craft, something you have to work to be good at, and if it isn't art, it certainly approaches it. Craft???? A craftsmen has talent. Never seen a rapper win Amerian Idol. eric1978 Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Craft???? A craftsmen has talent. Never seen a rapper win Amerian Idol. That's a pretty low bar you're setting there to qualify talent. I haven't seen any talent whatsoever spawned from American Idol. You wanna see talent, spend a weekend in the dive bars in Nashville...but 99% of those musicians will never make it because they can't dance. The American music revolution is dead and gone...has been for 30+ years. A few still slip throught the cracks, but for the most part it's over. They pick pretty faces and market them...has nothing to do with music anymore, just catchy beats and mindless lyrics to draw the morons en masse to buy their one and only "hit" on itunes.

Outside Bend Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 That is it right there. They can't sing cause they have no talent. It is nothing more than poorly executed, talentless, mono toned poetry, and I use the term poetry very loosly on because of the rhyming. They do not sing. Craft???? A craftsmen has talent. Never seen a rapper win Amerian Idol. Lots of poetry doesn't rhyme, and lots of songs have no lyrics. Does that mean the people making them aren't talented? And while you're right no rapper has won AI, there have been many rap artists whose record sales have trounced that show's winners. I agree that not all rap is good, some rap artists lack talent, and that the highest grossing rap albums aren't the best examples of what the form can do. But the exact same arguments can be made about pop or rock or country. Saying all rap is bad because some artists aren't talented makes as much sense as saying all rock is bad because ABBA and ICP exist. All genres have their good and bad, it doesn't necessarily say anything about the genre as a whole. Not sure I would say 30 years but last 10 for sure..... I'd disagree- Black Keys, Jack White and his projects, and several other groups come immediately to mind. The thing is that the music industry is so fragmented now- so many genres and subgenres that a lot of music gets passed over so that they can cultivate the big money-generating acts. Plenty of good music still out there, you just won't necessarily hear it on the radio- you have to go out and look for it. <{{{><
Greasy B Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 You guys are confusing pop culture with culture. By the way what is an American idol? His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
Chief Grey Bear Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 If it helps you guys out, I listen to very little, relativly speaking, produced after 1979. I am typing from my phone today, I won't be typing much. Justin Spencer Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Those of us that are approaching 40 were fortunate to grow up in a time when many types of music were just getting started. Our parents introduced us to the Beatles, James Taylor, Willie and Waylon, among many others. Then we got in on the start of Michael Jackson's solo career, as well as the Beastie Boys and Run DMC introducing us to rap. Metallica, Motely Crue, and GNR gave us more choices, and Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers were hot and then came Snoop Dogg and his posse. I've spent money to see Willie, JT, Motely Crue, Metallica, The Beach Boys, Chili Peppers. Snoop, and had Big Smith here at the ranch one summer. I love Adele and think Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift are brilliant singer songwriters. I absolutely love Neil Diamond, and keep thinking of more as I type. That being said after seeing that video, I need to find some different fishing buddies, and I like that song!
