Members P_L Posted June 28, 2012 Members Posted June 28, 2012 Some of the corn fields near my house here in Illinois are already turning brown. We havnt even hit our hot/dry months yet so you can bet the price of corn will go up if it stays like this. I guess the soy beans and horseradish crops wont be very good either. “Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” -Warren Buffett
Jerry Rapp Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 the Rapp family weather station is saying 108 in Arcadia Valley right now.

Wayne SW/MO Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Farmers Almanac is saying drought til end of july or august, i dont recall off the top of my head now. I wonder if the Almanac was able to see the lack of normal rain for the year to date. Around here it will take a lot of rain to recoup from a long period of below average rainfall. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
laker67 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 the Rapp family weather station is saying 108 in Arcadia Valley right now. 104 at loz
Haris122 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 They're saying there's a 1 degree difference between St. Louis today, and Phoenix, Arizona (they're at 109, we're at 108). I'd hate to think how bad it would feel with the humidity. Of course the dryness in the air, isn't helping the brushfire situations.
Jerry Rapp Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 wow, it is cooling off. 107 now in Arcadia Valley
moguy1973 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 My phone app says it's 106 right now in south STL... Weird thing is it says it "feels like" its only 101 with a 20mph wind out of the west...Guess that means there's a wind chill? -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

Around here it will take a lot of rain to recoup from a long period of below average rainfall. It did say that if June rains did not come thru, that a dought would persist until late july August. Also it didnt have much call for rain in May and June looking back at it. BUT Good news is they have rain in August and lots of rain in september and october, with snow by halloween. It was 112* according to my truck on the drive home from work today at 4pm. "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
