I am thinking JoeD must be waking up about now and drinking some coffee (if he can keep it down). It will be interesting to see if he remembers posting this last night/early morning. When he realizes what he posted, he will remove foot from mouth. Carry on JoeD, you are obviously a hit, and keep getting Lilly many hits!

From my limited experance watching such things the production quality on the videos posted here is light years ahead of the typical utube video. With the bar set so low I'd say the OAF videos are Oscar caliber.

By the way has anybody seen a fly fishing for Bluegill video worth watching? Best I've seen if Bluegill Fishing with Irene. I like Irene well enough but I'd bet an OAF contributer could do better. Maybe I should go ahead and get a camera?

His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

Hmmm. That's a good idea. I know a really nice spot for this. Maybe when it warms up just a bit.

What would make a bluegill video worth watching?

Laughter.

Oops, we should get back on topic: We all suck at videos.

There is a guy who goes by "Uncle Steve" on Youtube. He does bluegill fishing, no driving, no music, no flyrod, no expensive lures, mostly just worms. I enjoy his videos and subscribed a while back. But it has been mentioned a couple of posts ago, these videos on here are lightyears ahead. I don't judge on whether or not certain content has been added/ommitted, I judge if I like it or not. So far, I have not been disapointed on here.

Will you guys quit trying to make a "movie," no, a "FILM" for Pete's sake? Good grief. Trust me, I love and respect what you're doing. But, stop with the trying to be some auteur with the camera and your fishing trips. Your preciousness is offputting. You are all copying the same crappy flyfishing film blueprint that has most sane people bored to tears.

1. Highway traveling. Yes, got it. Two lane rural highways? Yawn. Jeez, if traveling isn't boring enough, why would we want to see it on film?

2. The sun. Yeah, it's there. Don't film it. (But what about the rays of the sun Joe? Beautiful. Unless they're piercing your drunken, crusted eyelids).

3. Music. Don't get me started.

4. Setting the tableau. GAWD. Yes, moving water is pretty. Oooh, look, moving water! (But Joe, we filmed at the waters LEVEL, check THAT out!)

5. Music. Next.

6. Fish. There are so gosh darn few of them being caught on any fishing video.

7. Repeating. FISH BEING CAUGHT IS AN AFTERTHOUGHT TO MOST OF THE "FILMS" WE SEE.

8. Sunset. Can't forget that. Especially when filmed through a golden haze of gently swaying long grass.

9. People. Couldn't identify with anyone. Not in the shot. They were too busy making a "film."

10. Music. Nevermind.

I realize that what I'm writing is quite harsh. And that I have no knowledge of the inner soul of our fellow fishermen who are posting these videos. I mean no offense. My point is, instead of doing what HAS been done in fishing video, do what YOU want to do on film. And surely it can't be highways and sunsets. Just because a TV show does it, doesn't make it right.

PS: Did I mention music

Dad gum Man, you tell it like you feel it don't ya, have to respect that. Making these non oscar winning films is what I do best I guess, as my last one I made had about 7 or 8 off your top ten list there. Like someone said on here earlier, I make my videos mainly to look at for myself on a later date, when I have cabin fever, and probably when I'm old and can't do this anymore. But I do share them on youtube these days as I do have people that enjoy them, as well as on here.

I enjoy all the stuff guys put on here, Brian's stuff is awesome I think. I do enjoy the conversations and excitement while fishing, that video's can capture. I can't speak for others, but the reason I put music on mine at times, is the audio is sometimes not so good on a GoPro, although on a video I'm working on now, I found out on my editor I can turn up the volume. Might have to post that one later and see if it gets a two thumbs up....lol

There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
