dennis boatman Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I fish alone most of the time. It's my preference. My wife and I fish together some. She loves to Crappie fish in the spring, but prefers to stay home on the longer days on the lake. When we Kayak, she fishes some, but mostly is just along for a day on the river. I'm lucky to have her. But as far as having a fishing "buddy", I prefer to fish alone. My style of fishing may dictate that, but i find being alone, I can be more stealth and almost always catch more fish. You? A strike indicator is just a bobber...
cnr Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I generally prefer fishing with someone else. But that person needs to be hardcore and fish the way I do, all day and hard at it, fishing stops when I can't see to tie anymore! So, that makes it hard to find someone to fish with that can keep up the same intensity. I don't mind fishing alone, at times it's really nice to cover the water all to yourself and set your own pace. Just seems a little more fun when you have someone to share the day with and the ride home. Seems like fishing alone is more of a wading/fly fishing thing, even when your with someone your generally out of sight with them most of the day.
Terrierman Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Normally alone, unless I'm with somebody. I surely prefer to be in canoe or kayak alone.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Depends on what im doing, shallow water walleye sniping it takes two to do it right. anything else and I can do it alone or with someone, I actually like having company but they better understand I dont come in till im ready and that has been known to be 24 to 36 straight hours. Most trips are 12 to 14 hours though. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Greasy B Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 90% of the time I fish with someone. I’m fortunate to have a ring of buddies who are foolish enough to go along with almost any plan I come up with. When I fished alone in the past I would often feel a little guilty knowing that I had left behind poor souls who would spend their weekends attending to ghastly task like yard work, shopping or god forbid providing company to a spouse. Maybe I’m on a mission to save who I can from a life of uninspired dullness. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
Flysmallie Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Better memories are created when fishing with a friend. Â Â
oneshot Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Most time I fish alone.I like fishing with someone else but if their old enough I want them to be able to do their own rigging. oneshot
laker67 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Loner, never cared for adjusting to someone else's schedule. You are welcome to come along, just meet me on the creek. A scedule can get in the way of catching a big fish.
Gavin Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I usually float with friends but we usually paddle in separate boats. Makes for a better balance of togetherness and do your own thing time. I'm usually alone when I wade fish. Alone or with a friend, its all fun.
