Johnny Football is a freak simple as that.. If he stays healthy Atm will be a force and him the Force of Nature! Arkansas is the Wildcard this year the new Coach and his game theology might be the big surprise. Bama is Bama NS keeps building 5 year teams and until he leaves or injuries destroy him the Tide will keep rolling. SEC football is the best argue all you want but there is a reason they are in the NC so dam much.

Mudbugs are for eating not bait lol.

Just got a look at the Arkansas schedule. Looked at some predictions. 3 maybe 4 wins. If they get a 5th. IT would be a monster season for them. Hope it plays out with a 5 win season for the new coach. Rutgers in the preseason up there will be a bear. I think they have a QB that is considered a 1st. or early 2nd round NFL type player. Everyone is predicting their only SEC win is vs Auburn. On 10 sites have not seen anything better than a prediction of 4 wins. Hope its better

Thanks for all of the advice. Sorry ill have to plead ignorance on the football topic. Dont dislike, just dont follow either. My plan is a crawdad boil with the big boys, and bait or just throwing back the little ones.

On a side note, any one know or care to share where and how to catch a limit of crappie around Kimberling City/ HWY 13 in early July?

Its funny, i have been consistently catching bass out of TLR for over 20 years in the summer, but i dont think ive ever caught a crappie out of there.

Now my kids want to have a fish fry and (sorry to offend) i just think crappie taste better than bass. Walleye would be good to, but while i have caught a couple keepers over the years, i dont walleye fish enough to know how to properly target them. Been to Stockton for walleye "practice" a few times, but still learning the tricks for 'eyes.

Again, thanks to everybody for being on here and being so willing to share, this site and you people are awesome!

Just sharing an old-time trick here. Fishing the James River with my grandpa long before Tablerock dam was built, he had a combined method for getting us some crawdads and catfish. He raised chickens at home and when they'd have a chicken dinner he'd save the innards, feathers, feet, heads, etc. in a burlap sack along with a big rock - and he'd bury the sack in his garden.

When we went fishing he'd dig the sack up and tie it to the back bumper of his car - it smelled so awful that's the only way we could stand to haul it. At the river he'd tie a long light rope to that sack and throw it in the river at the head of a "hole" of still water where the current ran in. We'd fish elsewhere up and down the river for awhile then come back and bait-fish on the bottom near that sack for catfish.

Those foul chicken parts would attract every catfish in the "hole", and when we got done fishing he'd haul the sack in by the rope as fast as he could, hand over hand. Crawdads would be clinging all over it and once they were up on the bank we'd grab them quick before they could get back to the water.

The catfish part of this method is probably illegal now, I suspect. So far as crawdads, though, I bet some version of this trick would still work.

That's a good question Sam and one I can not find a definitive answer on that I would want to gamble a ticket with MO conservation on. But from what I've read that IS still legal for catfish. I believe chumming/baiting is legal in MO. but would like a "FOR SURE" on that.

Try under lights on a timbered bluff. Works in the Long Creek arm. You may have to work around a bunch of pesky whites though.

I think A&M will be fine this year. Don't know if they will have the type of success they did last year because the SEC won't take them as lightly as they may have last year and like Bill said will now game plan for Johnny Football. A&M also according to sources had a top 3 recruiting class in the entire country last off-season so they appear to be ready to make a good run for the next couple of years at the least. Doesn't hurt recruiting in Texas since the Longhorns are now in somewhat of a down period in their program and are barely a top 25 team (if that) the last 4-5 years and also the fact that young high school talent see's how much exposure SEC teams get now being the powerhouse conference in NCAA the last decade. Just so this rant qualifies as fishing post Crawdads are delicious and go quite well with fried fish.

Be sure to put the crawdads in clean water for about a week before eating changing the water daily to clean them out.

Im not buying the JFF preparedness kit rumors. Bama had plenty of time to see and prepare for him and couldn't get it done. Jff is deadly when he gets outside the pocket and the problem is his receivers are dangerous period so you have to figure out how to contain him in the pocket which means light rushing and you have to contain his receivers, If you do both those things then he has his backs. It gives ATM 3 ways to beat you on offense a true triple threat offense. Exciting to watch hard to stop and I think the future of football in general.

Now as to the Razorbacks

LA-Lafayette = Win

Samford = Win

Southern Miss = Win

Rutgers = Win

ATM = Loss

Florida = Loss

South Carolina = Win ( if they cocks have injuries )

Bama = Loss

Auburn = Win

Ole Miss = Win

Miss State = Loss

LSU = Battle of the Boot! High emotion and anything can happen I never bet on this one for that reason.

I think AR can be a surprise this year and go 7-5 or 8-4 If they buy in to Coach B's scheme and come out to prove a point. There is a lot of emotion on their part to show the world last year will not happen again and players seem to really rise when they have a point to prove of themselves and the team.

I have to disagree. Although I agree that no team will ever fully stop or contain Johnny Football, I think teams will be better prepared and have had all off-season to watch film and coaches can game plan for him and have defenses with personnel packages set up to at least keep him in check. I also don't think the Razorback will beat SC. Spurrier finally has that program playing well and they should be a top 15-20 ball team. Arkansas might take a couple years to retool under their new coach. Pretty rare any coach comes in with players he didn't recruit and have a lot of success. Not saying it doesn't happen because it can and does, but it is not the norm.

Stick with Mr. Babler's advice about using butchered Sunfish for crawdad trap bait. Best bait there is and we always catch our share of mini-lobsters every year but haven't dropped our traps in just yet. Water temp. too cool and too changeable I'm guessing.

The Administration got real fed up with OU and Texas receiving the lions' share of the league revenue in the Big 12. As usual, it's all about the almighty dollar and I don't blame them.
