Quillback Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Well I can put off making a decision on buying that $25 Mikey until next year...
Jerry Rapp Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 same thing happens at Clearwater and Wappapello every year. When the water temps get to 75+ the spook bite is done.
Duck Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 All this can be true but it sure is great to live on this wonderful lake and fish when we want. Fall will be here soon and the wave makers will be gone and back to work and we will have the lake to ourselves again. Stay safe and good luck. Duck
Jason Essary Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Quillback, think I will get one anyways, otherwise I will what to long next year like I did this year...lol. dtrs5kprs Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Bite started to change for us yesterday. More pronounced today. Still catching keepers on the Ned and increasingly on a shakey head. Had 5 brown fish, mostly 16"-18" range on those today, throw in another 10-15 shorts. Chasers seem to be singles now, spook is doing better than the fin. Pretty much dead slow at 15'-25', 1/4 oz head and the full length zero or zinkerz. Brown purple chompers 6" worm also working. Starting to see shad and fish on the graph in vertical positions.
Bill Babler Posted June 12, 2013 Author Posted June 12, 2013 There is still a shallow bite if you can do that. As Dave said, I believe the Ned or the best for me is a rig bite in front of the bushes or thru some timbered pockets, very early and keeping in the shade. Have also heard of a dock bite on the shady side. I probably should have thrown the shaky abit as my guy was having a hard time with the rig. It is a process to fish that light of a drag system if you have not done it. I bet the straight line would have done him better. I'll put that in the cold storage and remember it next time. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
rps Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Yes Bill. Query to the crowd: At what point do we stop learning?
bfishn Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 ...I wonder if a thermocline will set up for awhile with them pulling the water throu still as hard as they are. Shouldn't that keep it mixed to a point? Just a thought, would like to see a 'cline get going. Have no fear. Generation from TR will have no effect on the stratification of TR. As soon as surface waters warm, the colder depths are already enough heavier to become the sole source for the 140' deep penstocks until turnover. The cold, dense water expelled is replaced by adjacent cold, dense water. The warmer lighter water always remains on top (something the Taney trout are undoubtedly thankful for). I can't dance like I used to.
Sore Thumbs Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Only thing we could get bit on the Beav last night was a spoon and a Jika rig.
