Pepe Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 She ain't a fancy lady but suits me fine. I found her in an old barn in Kansas without a spot of rust, putty or a dent. Here she is fresh from a frame up tear down and restoration. 1970 IH 1200 with Power Steering and factory AC. I guess she will pull my Triton without breathing hard.
denjac Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Sweet indeed! Hofer International in Pittsburg Kansas sold them. I think half of the populatin of Brazilton Ks drove one. 1975 or 76 was the last year they made them. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. bfishn Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Cool! That brings back some memories (not all fond). I had a '71 that was literally a tank... olive drab paint, drove like a tank, rode like a tank, and sucked fuel like a tank (~8mpg). There's a story of when my girlfriend at the time got hold of it at an outdoor party once, but I can't tell it here. :-) I can't dance like I used to.
Feathers and Fins Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 There is a truck that brings back many hunting and fishing memories with my own family. Great to see an old gal brought back to life. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Pepe Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 Cool! :-) After the war I had a 1966 IH pickup that I bought for $50. I couldn't afford new tires so I carried 3 spares. I took my wife, a Wyoming Cowgirl, on our first date in that truck. I opened her door and knew I liked her when she said "nice rig" and slid in the middle of the bench seat without grabbing the rifle rack. You're right, these trucks are tanks. I slow rolled that old truck down an embankment in an ice storm and, with a little help, put her back on the wheels and drove it home, not much worse for wear.
Pepe Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 Sweet road truck! Three on the tree? This one was ordered with all the options including an automatic transmission, dual fuel tanks and a radio. It is weird to fill up a tank on each side of the truck when at the gas station. The bed is still seal welded and the tailgate fits so well that the bed will fill up with water.
