A ccw firearm is a last line of defence tool it is not something to defend your things with any responsible gun owner knows that and for those of you who do not carry because you think you would get angry over an argument, High five! If every person cared to think about it before choosing to carry we would have far less gun toting knuckle heads to worry about.

Two idiot canoers shooting pistols at (turtles) all the way through (my) stretch of river Saturday morn. They had a costly take out point . Sorry about that but I had to call in the heat. Another gun incident down below river round Saturday afternoon according to warden buddy. They shooting at water to see the effect. Could be a select group of knuckleheads continually acting out. Make it costly for them and they stop? Lets hope.

What never ceases to amaze me is all the people who comment that CCW carriers are nuts or gun freaks or whatever. Does anyone care to find the stats of how many CCW carriers each year use the gun out of anger or flash it around like some nut. The information is out there if you care to look. Also look at how many CCW carriers use it in defense of self or others. You may be surprised at how low the numbers are.

Then just for giggles look at the stats for criminals who use a gun in a crime and how many of them were stolen weapons. These numbers are not low.

Here is something to think about ( though not likely in this area of the country but possible ) If you saw someone being attacked and you did not have a weapon but they did the best you could do is yell at them or call 911. With a Weapon you could save a life. Just something to think about. Now as many years as I have carried 2 decades plus I have never had to pull the weapon. I also know many career officers who have never had to pull the weapon and many ccw carriers who have never had to pull it. But for me I would rather have it and pray I never need to pull it than need it and not have it. It is no different than a pocket knife to me if I need it im glad its there.

After that talk to me about all these gun toting nuts. Stop listening to the anti-gun nuts and learn the facts!

Because JD they are all gun nuts, they need their gun to be able to jump out of its holster and shoot all those bad guns running around shooting. Because we all know there are no criminals behind those guns. Bad people don't use guns against other people! Guns just jump up and shoot people for fun.

After reading the 13 or 14 pages so far my take of the shooting is: 2 different individual/groups met, both made very very poor choices, either could have ended it peacefully at any point, and it escalated and ended with someone killed. Whether or not it will be determined to be justifiable or not is a jury's job not mine. It seems like a perfect storm of bad decisions. As in most things responsibility is the key, folks who choose to carry concealed or open carry even and do so with responsibility and skill are not a problem, its those who don't have the responsibility, wisdom etc. There are some things in my house or maybe my car/truck that I would be willing to take a life, but they all have names, coincidentally the same last name as me.

Please quote the post or posts where anyone said anything at all about CCW carriers being gun nuts, freaks or whatever. All I saw was several people, me included, saying that's not how I roll.

I don't have any exact numbers, but it seems to me that "innocent" people being shot are very rare. That's why they make the news when it does happen. I'd guess that a HUGE majority of shootings are amongst friends, family, or drugs. Sure, occasionally someone gets in the way of these things, but rarely. Not worth the hassle at Terrierman said.

Feel free. To me though, there's not enough threat out there to make the hassle, training time and expense of carrying a gun, being good with it and keeping it safe all the time to make it worth it. But honestly, to each his own, so long as nobody that doesn't need shooting gets shot.
