jpb2187 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Well I recently bought a used Porta-a-bote to get myself off the shore, and I figured with the weather this weekend it would be a great time to finally test it out on the water and spend some qaulity time with my daughter. We went to Simpson Park in Kirkwood, here in Saint Louis. The port-a-bote is pretty cool little dinghy, folds down to about the size of a surfboard, and can take up to a 5hp outboard motor. It seemed very stable on the water and moved pretty well with the trolling motor. My daughter had a great time. Dad didn't catch anything but "junk" fish but my daughter could have cared less. She just like seeing the big fish! I did think it was odd though, I caught several carp on a crankbait? a couple were foul hooked but one had it right in his mouth. Coincidence?

fishinwrench Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Have I got a deal for YOU! ..... This needs a home.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 If jpb2187 is not interested, I may be. What are the details Wrench? I have a 10' flatbottom jon that I want a small gas motor for. (needs to have a title) By the way, good for you for having your daughter wear her life jacket. I've seen parents that neglect them. I wear mine along with my kids. That way they won't think any different. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. strangercreek Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I can't waiit to take my little girl along, she will be three in Jan. I've been letting her play with a fly rod outside, she likes to wave it around and watch the "yellow string" fly around
stuartsx5 Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 My best fishing memories are those when I had my kids with me. Even if they didn't do anything but play with the fish in the livewell and eat all the snacks, it was a good day. Fishing and hunting are a good anti drug for the kids growing up in today's world. It can be a scary place for the little ones. My youngest one is 17 now and doesn't have the time for fishin with dad but will again someday. Earl Stuart fishin is livin
