Hah -- no, that must have been after my time.

Nice looking dog, and I see she is wearing the "Hearing Aid".

Ha! Yeah, and early indications are she's gonna need it -- on 11!

Thanks for the write Ness. Keep up the faith. If we can bring back the habitat the birds will follow. Our boys will appreciate us for it. Nothing like catching fish, on flys, tied from feathers of birds that you've harvested.

Thanks TT. Yeah -- it's kinda neat pulling out a pheasant tail from last season and tying up some PT nymphs.

We've had a couple more days out, and I haven't fired the gun yet. But I've got in some good time with Max. Gonna sit out the deer rifle seasons and be back at it in a week or two. There ARE birds out there.

Lost my good buddy Max yesterday. He'd been in decline for a while, but things got so bad that he was struggling to breathe and suffering, and we couldn't have that.

He was the sweetest dog I've ever known. He was great with people: he just loved everybody immediately. He had a lot of energy, but he was very well-behaved. He was a good bird dog, and there are many great memories of him in the field. I especially love the memories hunting with Max and my two boys. But really, it's the memories of the everyday things that are flooding my mind now. How he tormented our older Brittany Molly when he was a pup, and how our younger Brittany Ruby tormented him when she was a pup. How he popped up off his front legs when he barked. How he had to go in circles for a couple minutes before he finally settled into his doggy bed. A few pics:
