Jerry Rapp Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 is this trip like spring training baseball? Specific players for certain times? The spinnerbait just might be the killer all day long with the warm rain and days we are suppose to get.

dtrs5kprs Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Good memory JR,. i looked it up. 1991 Illinois Invitational. Woo won $35,000 and his winning weight was 18.13. 325 total contestants and some big names from back in the day and a few who are still fishing the big tournaments. I recognized some local guys too. Not many fish were caught it looks like, at least not big ones. http://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/1991-illinois-invitational/results/0/ Just watched this not long ago while pouring heads. Woo and his Zebco spincast reel. Always reminds me of club tmts on the river in the 90s. Tough.
Old plug Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 that pool in back of alton goes all the way to the next darn that is Clarksville. it is not the best area by any means a lot of dirty water coming thru there. up above Clarksville it is a different story are at least it was.
LarrySTL Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Ouch http://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/1991-illinois-invitational/results/0/ http://intervenehere.com
Old plug Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 whoever got his boat smashed was lucky. Even moored barges will do you in. Current running under them is like a giant vacuum cleaner.
fishinwrench Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 sounds like a urban legend to me Mitch. i can never recall them locking through small boats in my time around winfield , Clarksville or Saverton. Wrench might know though if they did. he grew up near the Mississippi above st louis Oh yeah, they'll lock you through in a canoe if you pull the rope I think. I've locked through in a 16' jon boat plenty of times. I think by law they have to.
LarrySTL Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I've been through Winfield, Clarksville, Keokuk, and Burlington at different times in a bass boat, sometimes with just a few bass boats in the lock, and a couple of times at the front of the lock watching one of those big barges creep toward you and hearing those huge ropes vibrate and creak. http://intervenehere.com
