eyedabassman Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 That crappie has the eye of a big bass.Looks odd!
Members JerryK Posted February 4, 2014 Members Posted February 4, 2014 Hi; My son caught an 18" years ago in Aunt's Creek. I have a photo. I just have no idea how to upload it. That's the biggest that I have ever seen.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Not mine, but the biggest I have ever seen. Caught by my grandfather in the late 70's early 80's time period. The bench it is on is made of true 1x6 I know the bench was 24 inches wide and this crappie was overhanging the redwood so my guess was at minimum 24'' and possibly bigger. Sorry its so fuzzy it was an old Kodak camera from days long before digitals. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Seth Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Last year during mid-March, our two boats caught 60-70 crappie in Flat Creek and about a half dozen were around the 14" mark.
96 CHAMP Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 anyone have any suggestions on crappie in the shell knob area,I have fished for them up in the kings years ago but never spent much time on them at table rock, have done plenty on loz as that is closer to home, it takes 4 1/2 hours to get to TR from my house, not gonna spend days looking for crappie when i can go bass fishing, thanks
Hazbin Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I wonder how old a Crappie that size is and how long they live in large impoundments like Table Rock. MDC told me Large Mouth Bass live only about 10 yrs. and that would encompass anything 8# and up. I was asking about a friend of mine keep 6 and 7 # bass and eating them and I was told it would be better to harvest them and and let the smaller keeper go back as they are much better and prolific spawner's, as they said those larger bass are only going to live a few more years anyway and up to 10 yrs. at the max. Anybody got any ideas on this. I personally don't keep anything other than Whites and larger Crappie.
MeatintheFreezer Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 This one was from 2011. It measured 16.5". Caught it on King's River. That's my biggest Crappie in Missouri. Remember - If at first you DO succeed, try not to act surprised & quit while you're ahead.
merc1997 Bo Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 eons ago in a draw tournament held out of big m, my partner caught a 3lb. 8 oz. on a spinner bait in roaring river. he weighed it in as a joke since he did not have anything else to weight in. that is the biggest crappie that i have seen first hand out of table rock. bo
