dtrs5kprs Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I hope you do and I could easily eat my words. But I just don't see the allure of this bait or how it is really any different than a rapala countdown minnow (aside from the obvious missing prop). Brett...it's all about the roll. If you watch the videos with the Japanese pros a few things jump out. Similar water to our open areas, gravel flats, spawn flats. Clear water. Slow, swimming retrieve- like a grub. Then the fact the bait is built to roll along its center. That concept carries over to a lot of the finesse plastic ideas, including the Ned Rig. And if all else fails I will throw it at schoolies.
fishingaddiction Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 There could be something to this. I see this as another option in the spring when female K's, LM, and Smallies are moving in from deep water for the right moment to move up shallow. At this time of year the swimming grub is hard to beat, but this is something they haven't seen. Who know's? Born to Fish. Forced to Work.

Lets face facts Dave, you really are just looking for ANY excuse to fill out that pegboard in the garage. Lets not beat around the bush and call a spade a spade.

Lets not beat around the bush and call a spade a spade. He already has that pegboard filled up. We're talking a different pegboard. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.

Plan to add a smaller section in the fish room for a few other things, hooks, heads, etc. Pegs in the garage are for the tools I never use.
gitnby Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Read an article in bass master on this technique. Suppose to be deadly on suspended bass in clear water lakes. The lure mentioned for this is Duo Realis Spinbait 80. I got this image from the Tackle Warehouse website. Has anyone used this technique on the Rock? This lure will never work! Not unless you put some dang hooks on it!
Sore Thumbs Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I tried this thing last summer. Didn't use it much. But I did find a lighted dock one evening with white bass swimming under it pretty heavily. Those whites were hammering that thing.
Ham Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Gosh, I hope they catch more than White Bass. I suspect they'll catch cool water smallies in a slow moving water too, but you gotta throw it at them to find out. I haven't caught a smallie over 20 inches in Bull Shoals yet. It would be sweet If I got one on a spy bait. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
