They're about a dollar a piece. I've used plenty marabou jigs of all types. I like the zig jigs. I like pj's too. I know the fayeteville family that owns pjs and I like their business and what it does to further their mission a lot, so I have some brand loyalty to them. That said,I probablyhave six dozen zig jigs in various colors and sizes. I can't say that I really prefer one over the other. Both are very high quality trout jigs for a fair price.

They are about $13 a dozen from the website. Three packs are about $6 at a local store (Harps). About the same price as a lot of flies, but they last a lot longer than flys.

There are several sizes of fly rod jigs (1/124, 1/80, and 1/64 oz Ithink) and 1/32 ,1/16, 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4 oz. in the spinning sizes.

I have no idea why the trout eat them with reckless abandon, but they do.

PJ's, and I believe ZJ's, have flat sided heads with one side (only) that's slanted which makes them drop a little funny.

Pj's heads are not lead. They're some kind of substitute. Ham make be able to tell you what ZJ's are made with.

Both are very good quality jigs. I've played around with them before and you can see the bit of extra action you get with the lopsided head with the zig jig. That mustad hook may be the best thing about them! If you hang a fish of a lifetime, that hook can hold on to it!

Can I get a cross-section pic of one of these ZJ bad boys?

Trying to wrap my head around this....head.

I know Ham well enough to know that he wouldn't be crowing so much about a plain ol' marabou jig.

I assume that Zig Jigs are made with lead, but I don't know that. I'll keep in mind that the PJ's aren't lead based. That might become vital down the road.

If the Zig Jigs leave the marketplace, I'll start buying and using the PJ's jigs. I know they work too.

One of the little things I like about the zig jigs is the eye is open when you pick it up, no poking paint out of a tiny little hole. The paint quality is above average. And they catch trout. Chief, they've got a lot of really good color combinations too. They're just really good jigs is the bottom line. And for a dollar each, that's pretty fair in my book.

I'll stick to tying my own jigs. Mine don't cost a dollar apiece so I don't hate myself when I lose one and I can tie way more different colors and combos than the ZJ.

Can you guys really tell the difference in fish catching ability between the pill heads and round heads? I've used the PJ's and my own hand tied round head jigs and couldn't tell that the fish preferred one over the other as long as the colors were the same.

You can easily make an aspirin head with a hammer. The aspirin head shape cuts thru the water easier, which helps if your fishing a dam that's generating hard.

What I would like is to have someone upload a couple of pictures of the Zig jig head from different angles so you can see the difference in the Zig jig and the regular aspirin head.
