Pepe Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I don't know how it is in your business, but in my industry the folks who aren't winning are usually the ones who want to change the rules.
Sac River Jim Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 i do believe some of em took the swim bait box out of the boat tied on a jig, jerk bait and wart on and commenced to work for the fish they caught. i seen some pretty nice brown fish weighed in today too.

I couldn't agree more Mike .....I love the Rock especially around Baxter, because it's the only part I know.....someday I may retire there and try to learn the rest of that beautiful lake.
abkeenan Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Well what else was Ish Monroe going to use as an excuse for not doing very well yesterday? This is who I was referring to in my post above with the excuses galore. But you went ahead and let the cat out of the bag. Guy just loves to stir the pot and is more worried about what gear and boat he is running that actually winning tournaments or placing well.

skeeter Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Criminy ! Some mercenary ding-a-ling comes to TR once in a blue moon and starts spouting off about species and length limits ? How typical ! Those of us old farts that remember the sad state TR was becoming pre the late 1970's 15" limit probably recall how lengthy and maligned studies by MDC fisheries biologists changed for the good what this fishery was becoming. Many of the Resort and Marina owners we knew were predicting bankruptcy and, instead, the 15" limit not only benefitted their business as more and more fish survived fishing pressure long enough to successfully spawn, but the entire idea kind of led to the early recognition and adoption of the whole "catch and release" concept. If anyone recalls, this "Elite" character's whining about different length limits for Spots was discussed, at length, in the 70's and discarded due to anticipated difficulty of the general public in identifying K's vs. LM.
johnboy2bfishin Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Here is my 2cents. Those "elites" get "paid" to do something most everyone here loves to do. That is to fish, and they get to do it for a living. How many guys can say I get to what I enjoy for a living? Your called the elites for a reason, so shut up your whining and learn how to fish for a living. Don't come into a fishery and expect to cqtch 25# everyday. Every body of water is different so go figure it out elites. Would I lve for the opportunity to fish for a living. Yes it is a grind and hard work at times, but hey elites your getting paid to fish this great country of ours. You get to fish some awesome places that most of us will never get to. So if you don't like the lakes that BASS has scheduled, then stay home let someone else who wants he challenge to fish thise lakes you have to work for.
Old plug Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 well better down there than up here at LOZ.. But I am sure they all know already that LOZ is all fished out. I am really surprised after being on here for a short while that many of you have some negative feelings about your hero's. As many of you know I am just know I am more than likely just a simile old man. Think what you want because I could care less. But all this commercialization of the sport of bass fishing has not been good. I do not believe when a field is limited to 55 "Elite" fisherman it proves nothing other than somebody is the best of the 55 in that tournament. I was wondering about who was fishing this tournament and looked at the list. I seen the name VanDam on there twice. Hmmmm. Check out the name of Hibdon sometime if you want. Don't any of you find it strange. Some people put them on a pedestal like great athletic heroes. That they are not. I do not consider fishing athletics. When you talk about a star athlete in a sport like baseball, football or any other true sport those guys truly are great. They competed with the best and with the best of the best to get where they are. Nobody signed them in thru letters or recommendations. To me Pro bass fishing it is mostly smoke and mirrors to sell everything that has to do with fishing at what has become robbery prices. Some fisherman will sacrifice home marriage and everything else in the course of looking cool. I have some of that myself. I know there were times when I was younger that I put what I felt were the fishing needs ahead of the home needs. Fortunately my wife was patient and were going to celebrate our 50th this year.
Members JimmyBaja Posted April 5, 2014 Members Posted April 5, 2014 This may be a popular observation, but I thought the majority of the fisherman at Friday's weigh in were very complimentary of the lake. Almost all stated the obvious... they needed to find the kicker and most could not. Talked talked about the beauty of the lake, the large number of fish they caught and the many bass species available to catch.
