dtrs5kprs Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 You just have to reconcile yourself to investing $100 on a pile of baits to get two or three, maybe, that will run the way you need them to.
Ham Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Or buy expensive baits that work right from the get go EVEN IF they aren't exactly the same as the Red Fin. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
tapout Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Oh boy. Don't know if I can handle another thread of red fin discussion. Just search "red fin" in the search bar here and you will get more info than you bargained for and then some. That topic, wiggle wart and now ned rig threads have been exhausted to the ends of the Earth on this forum. x2 - Redfins work and I haven't found anything else close when one of them runs just right, BUT one in four wakes just perfect after changing the hooks, changing the split rings, bending the line tie, adding suspending dots to the rear, and on and on. I'd like to thank my FUTURE sponsers: Falcon Rods, Jewel Bait Co, and Seagar
dtrs5kprs Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I try to keep in mind, that while many of us have learned these things, that are still more who have not. Keeps the repetitive nature of things in check. Searches are good though.
Champ188 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I think we should all come together with every Fin we own -- good and bad -- and have a Fin Fire. Toss them all in a big pile, pour gas on them and light em up. A Spook, Sammy, Pop-R, Yellow Magic or Chug Bug is all anyone needs in terms of topwaters on Table Rock. Stupid Fins are costing us waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time and money. I'm gonna go home and gather my fuel for the Fin Fire tonight. No holding back. Every one I own. Gone. Never to be waked through a cedar top again. Promise. Really. I do.

abkeenan Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I had a fin fire once when I overdid the candle trick. Very sad. That's why I use a hair dryer
jolicious Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Forget Red Fins - buy some blanks that are a little larger version of the Bomber Long-A and get after it
bfishn Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 A lot of those 'fins that won't wake when cast do just fine with 100+ feet of line out on a 1/2 mph troll. Before anybody has a bonfire, I'd give a buck apiece for up to 20 that don't work for you but are otherwise intact. :-) I can't dance like I used to.
