I've had a Hustle zero turn for 5+ years, great mover. It has saved me lots of time and is actually fun to operate. I also use it to pull around tarps of leaves, small trees, and piles of brush. The 42" has two blades. Put some Gator mulching blades on there and you'll be happier than a pig in slop.

Ham, have all potential suitors for Chloe prove there worth by signing a contract stating that they will forever mow your yard with a mower they must purchase and that all yards must be maintained to the PGA standards.

Don't get a Cub Cadet, I did and actually gave it away when it was shot in three years. I've now got a 24HP Husqvarna with a 48" reinforced deck (there's a 3/4" steel tube around most of it) and it seems to be a good one. No trouble after two years. It does have three blades though, I think most of the 48" decks do. That's not the same as saying get a Husqvarna, just it's a lot better mower than that POS Cub Cadet.

I've had relatively no problems with my 46" cut Cub Cadet and it's going on 5 years this summer...It's got a 22hp B&S engine with hydro. The only thing I've had to replace on it is the hydro drive belt when it shredded itself. I haven't even made it to it's first oil change though as it only has about 35 hours on it.

Why not just buy another DEERE?

That might be just fine, but since mine is > 10 years old I wasn't sure that the newer mowers were of the same quality. I'm also trying to keep an open mind about other makes and models.

I can understand that. I dont have enough lawn for a riding mower but, I think as long as it isn't a wal-mart special you should be ok

They are really proud of the John Deere zero turn mowers...expensive. Not sure they're as much better than other brands as they are more expensive than other brands.

I have a snapper rear engine drive mower with a single 28 inch blade. I am sure it might be to small for your application but for me it is a delight. I can stand it on end and clean it etc.

You might.want to check on line. Northern tool used to carry john Deere. They ship it free. There are others as well. You can save a lot on the state sales tax. that is just fine with me. They go overboard on their sales taxes anyway.

My dad has a Kubota 1400 (38in maybe?) Hydrostat that is 22 years old and has the original tires....runs great. Very few problems, a few broken deck brackets here and there.....and two coils over the life of the motor
