Any recommendations on a new generation transom saver. It will be going on a Yamaha hpdi 250. Someone tried to tell me they are hard on the boats transom. Is this true? Thanks guys.

If the boats transom can handle the weight and torque of a 250 shoving it forward then it can handle a bumpy road.

Transom savers help take some weight off the tilt ram and guard against a leakdown but if you have ever manually tilted a V6 then you know that once you are off the trim rams things get WAY lighter due to the balance of the outboard power head.

Where I have seen damage occur is when using a transom saver but NOT using snug transom tie downs. Usually these are guys that live real close to the lake who get lazy.

If you're not securing the back end of the boat to the trailer then you are probably better off not bothering with a motor bracket either.

I've been using a Lok n Haul for 4 years. I like it.

By new generation I assume you mean the one that slides over the tilt shaft. I like mine real well. You have to put it on the port side shaft. On yamaha there is a grease zert on the starboard side and you will knock it off if you put it on that side.

I thought Yamaha made pianos, not outboards.

i will give a thumbs up to the lock-n-haul also. hands down the best out there. you should go to their website and watch videos they have done hauling a rig with theirs against other brands over the same road. it is quite eye opening. it takes 100% of the movement out of your steering. it does not transfer trailer movement to your boat or motor, as happens with saver to the trailer and to the motor. it does not flex like the h style does that clips into the motor housing.
