snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Thanks guys! I know it could be 60 by then but if it's like today I'll pass. Pete
Ham Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 It's 31 degress and sunny. Wind is around 7 mph. They are running a good amount of water too. I'd catch 60-120 fish today. I'd love to fish today. You just need the right clothing. Something dark that blocks the wind. It would be awesome to be out today. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Mike Worley Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Hey, this sounds like fun. I can make friday and maybe Saturday. I live in Mountain Home so I dont need a cabin. I do like deep fried flathead so I would like to be there for that. I would like to meet the OAF bunch. I will bring my boat also with room for anyone who wants a ride.
gotmuddy Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Shaping up to be a nice size crew! Any suggestions on smoking something Friday? everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Quillback Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Shaping up to be a nice size crew! Any suggestions on smoking something Friday? When you say "smoking something", I'm assuming you're talking about food? That brisket you did last year was mighty tasty! I'd say once we get within a week of the trip, we should do a final head count.

snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I'm planning on coming down Friday to Sunday. No boat though. Hey Ham, What line do you recommend for jog fishing? Pete
Ham Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Nanofil 6 or 8 lb with a 6 lb leader. I'll be glad to show you a knot to join the leader to the Nanofil. The Nanofil throws further than mono and really increases sensitivity and hooksetting ability. Resist the urge to have a leader stronger than the nanofil. You will break at the knot joining the leader to the nanofil more times than not. The nanofil is a little pricey on the front end, but I can show you a trick to get multiple reel fills out of one spool. I have a reel that I spooled up Aug 2013. Still using that line on that reel and I have fished with it A LOT. Conservatively, you should get a year out of the line you've put on a reel. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. grizwilson Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Ham showed me his knot for fluro to nano, Alberto knot examples on the internet utube were a bit different. Since changing my method to Ham's back in April I have not had one knot fail but many the other way the nano seemed to cut the fluro or mono. I have nano on about half my rigs now as the prower pro wears out likely most all will be converted except for maybe some very selective things, not sure what they are for sure, just keeping my toe in the door before I commit to completely jumping ship.. I am fairly certain on being down Friday evening, Sat. and Sunday. depending on work, might make Thursday morning. I will bring my boat. Looking fwd to it. g “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
LittleRedFisherman Posted November 20, 2014 Author Posted November 20, 2014 Shaping up nicely indeed, i'm probably looking at Friday and Saturday fishing, maybe sunday to. Got some flathead I caught last month i'm bringing to fry up! If Cody does that brisket again that sounds good, I could cook fish on Saturday night again? Just got my jig order sent last weekend. Think i'm rigging one up with nanofil as well. You can really feel that jig on those long casts! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
