Champ188 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Yes, I do have issues with CPA and Bass Pro where failing to return those fish to the lake is concerned. Major issues. By the way, triangler, how did you do in the derby today?
Members triangler Posted October 12, 2014 Members Posted October 12, 2014 Seems like a your issues are bigger than just those fish. You've got some serious animosity going there - vendetta would be a good description if either cared to respond to you. Not good, right around 8 lbs
Members GENTLE Posted October 12, 2014 Members Posted October 12, 2014 Yeah Champ, didn't you used to write for the old CPAA magazine? There most be some unresolved grievance between you and them?
Sore Thumbs Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 By the way I heard the Regional for Okie division is at LOZ next year. Hope to see some of you boys in Oklahoma.
Alex Heitman Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I have the utmost respect for Mike Webb who runs the tournaments. Great guy. I called him one day out of the blue and met him on the water just to help me repair my carpet from a super glue spill. What guide takes time out of their day to help some one like that? I'm glad he puts on these tournaments. There isn't a lot of circuits put on in my opinion that are run better than the CPA. If you are looking for a good circuit this is one of them.
Sore Thumbs Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Think you fellas are missing the point a bit. Champ was actually looking out for the guys best intrest. Don't get so offensive about the "ole gaurd". They know what they are talking about. I'm a tweener at age 41 so I see both sides. The fish should be returned to their home waters because it's the right thing to do. To trailer fish for long periods of time is silly. BASS had a tourney there and had the weigh in right there at the take off sight for half of the tourney and they have a lot more boats.

"The ole guard" here tend to attack first and ask questions later. I seem to remember a little BASS derby in OK last year where the fish took a little ride from Grand Lake to Tulsa........ something called a Classic???

But they returned them to the lake, whereas the fate of the TR fish seems to be a mystery.

Bill Babler Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Well it was a fun day. The event was very well ran, and the staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Weighin was very well ran, just everything was done well. Staff even pulled my truck out for me at launch. I believe that 14 lbs won the shindig and last paying spot was to be 10th was 11 something to drawing the last check. Much tougher than many anticipated with the wind and all. It was the polar opposite of my kind of day, give me bluebird, but I did scrape together a small limit, 9.93. I have been getting a good bite shallow early, but I just flat didn't get that done today. If immature is the worst thing I'm called today, and so far it has been, then I think we can all chalk this one up in the win column. When I was a kid I use to love looking at the fish in the Bass Pro aquarium. Who am I kidding I still like to look at them. Everyone of those fish had to come from somewhere, and no matter where that was, someone wouldn't have liked at. Moral of the story, You might as well get them wherever you want. I've stated in the past, of the dozen guides on the Rock on any given day, 40 fish go home with their clients.... Every freaking day. One could say this is a much bigger problem, and I would say the exact definition of exploiting a fishery for money. And you know what, I don't have a problem with it, although it takes a visible toll on the fishery. Heck if I could catch more than 10 pounds I might even be a guide myself. It seems to me some like to jump on one fella and turn there back to some others that more or less do the same thing. i.e. exploit the fishery for money. Probably need to rethink that. I know of but one of two guides that still kill fish. That went out years ago. Even the few that do will only let a person take 1 or two. Most of the very top guides do not and have not killed a bass intentionally in years. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
