dtrs5kprs Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 And now i KNOW, you can anchor on a small area and fish it for hours without running out of fish IF it is the right spot. It will do it on the "wrong spot" too. Just have to fight the urge to move and let the little guy do his thing. About the only time I really feel like I have burned a spot is in little spawn coves. Places a boat beam or two wide. Even then I often go back through a second or third time. If you are fishing a point in a big creek or pocket, or main lake stuff there are generally a bunch of them there. One of the real lessons I have learned from fishing the little thing is about just how many bass are actually down there. We would be shocked to know. Fish so tight to bottom they don't graph, fish that lay by a rock and rarely move... Dewayne French and Terrierman 2

There really are a lot of fish in the water.
Members Crawbug Posted February 12, 2015 Members Posted February 12, 2015 I'm a gp/orange fan too! Curious...Any one ever try sizing up the Ned presentation to target bigger bass? Like usin 3/4 of the Zinker instead of half and a bigger hook on an 8th oz head... Any luck there?

Like usin 3/4 of the Zinker instead of half and a bigger hook on an 8th oz head... Any luck there? I really think the half size is just right. It will catch good fish, just catches a lot of smaller fish along the way. An example... I use the full zinkerz or zero on a 1/4 or 3/8 oz shakey head as a change of pace bait. It is a great shakey bait. But the number of bites drops way off, and the size increase is hit and miss. What I did learn from it is that a lot of fish will pick up the tail of the full bait. Have posted about this before. You will swing on them, get this weird "rubber band" feeling through the rod, and fight them up to the boat before they manage to pull the elaztech out of their teeth. When you look at the bait you will see teeth marks right at that 2 & 1/2 inch to 3 inch length. Especially with K's. Bigger is just not better with this little rig.

Any luck there? yes, that works too don't know if it catches more big fish, but it catches fish, the whole worm, half a worm, 3/4 , doesn't matter really it all works at one time or another light weight ,heavy weights all have their time and place. "the ned" is all about little and light though..some days a 1/3 of a zero/zinker can be better than the 1/2 size we always called it the 'stubby grub". bondy baits makes a finesse ned rig type lure actually called the stubb grub
Ham Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Ned and the boys have played with all sorts of options and kept crazy amts of details in their notes. I'm not about re-inventing the wheel; I'm about catching the fool out of them Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

A guy has to read daily to keep up. Quillback 1 "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
Members uptonfish Posted February 16, 2015 Members Posted February 16, 2015 what glue do you guys prefer for your ned rigs? I havent found one I like yet? looking for easy no-mess application.
