Foghorn Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Wife has made sourdough bread 27-28 years and the mulberry jelly is good with her bread. She used to make it and strawberry freezer jam and I'd take it on the caboose while working the local. All it took was a little warm up on the caboose stove, some butter and the strawberry jam and the eating was good. And we have 3 white vehicles.😳 BilletHead 1

I roamed that creek for 3 or 4 miles in each direction. About a mile upstream from the house, two mulberry trees sat on the bank of the creek. During the season, I would visit everyday and eat myself sick on them. Foghorn 1
semble Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 I give my wife a lot of trouble over her powdered potatoes but she can out bake me any day of the week. Made what she called a depression cake. Johnsfolly, snagged in outlet 3, MOPanfisher and 2 others 5

I would guess it has something to do with access to ingredients during the depression era. The frosting was more of a glaze. I'll just call it delicious. snagged in outlet 3, BilletHead and N9BOW 2 1

BilletHead Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 So I suppose we have some REA members here and you all get the rural Missouri magazine? Well there was a recipe in there called the South of the Border pizza. The Mrs. did some tweaking and made it a deep dish I guess you would call it. Pretty tasty. Reminded me of enchilada and or a tamale mix taste wise. Pretty good and worth a repeat performance someday. Well I had a leftover of it this afternoon. I like eggs with my enchilada or tamale so I scrambled a couple to go wit it. However I did not snap a pic of it but I did do one of dessert! Ginger snaps and the miller high life I had left from dinner. Actually it was good . ness 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" We've never tried mulberry jelly. I do agree that having birds above your vehicles and a tree full of ripe mulberries is a purple mess everyday through the season. Not to mention the flies.
Terrierman Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 I know it's weird but all those death by chocolate things just make me want a green popsicle or a glass of iced tea. They are just way too much for my delicate palate.
