Broke the cooking slump tonight. I had most of the ingredients for cioppino at home, stopped by the store to round things out.

White wine, vegetable stock, clam juice, onion, garlic, celery, poblano, diced tomatoes, bay leaves, parsley, pepper, lemon zest and red pepper flakes. Simmered that for a bit. Strained it to get the broth and added white fish, shrimp, clams and later crab meat.

Combination supper tonight.  Combining, leftovers, easy and tasty.  Chopped up meat from some left over fried chicken thighs, opened a big jar of Bertolli Alfredo sauce, put it all in a pot to warm up with some extra seasoning and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.  Boil in up some spaghetti noodles to ladle it over, Mmmm Italian version of biscuits and gravy me thinks.

     Fish and chips,

Some of the fresh white bass from Thursdays trip. While I was deep frying the sliced and seasoned potatoes the Mrs. was frying the fish,

I opted to spend the day simmering a beef stew.  Reduced an arm roast to small chunks, browned them in a Dutch oven, added broth and seasoning for a long slow simmer.  Couldn't find any barley locally so used lentils, taters, onions, and carrots.  Sure smells good, very dark in color.

Not sure if you've ever had posole.  It's pork butt reduced to chunks, browned and the same amount of onion cooked translucent.  Then a quart container of vegetable broth and about a cup of diced green chile.  I got lazy today and used canned.  Four cloves of garlic crushed and two cans of hominy.  White today but yellow is just as good.  Added some red and bell pepper and it's been stewing for the last three hours or so.  It's green and smells real good.  When I serve it there will be chopped cilantro, sour cream and a lime to squeeze on top.

Ness will probably pass on the cilantro.
