I like the meatloaf recipe and will have to try it. I have a meatloaf recipe with all the same ingredients except take out the sour cream and add half a bottle of guinness extra stout. Use the drippings and the other half of the beer and thicken to pour on top of the meat and potatoes. I think I only cook mine for about an hour.

Sounds good! I tend to make thick, round loafs and that slows the interior cooking.

Scored on three more bluewings this morning so put them with last weeks three for a meal. To go with was Cajun Dirty Rice.  So for the dirty part of the rice we used wild turkey liver, heart and the gizzard. To that supplement todays teal gizzard and heart plus a few dove hearts. Needed one pound of meat total so ground venison filled that gap. The ground and chopped meat was browned well in goose fat until a crust was formed. This was deglazed in broth. Then came celery, onion, garlic, green pepper (cubanelles from garden)and jalapenos from garden. Dried garden oregano and some Cajun seasoning. This all was mixed in and veggies softened and again all crusted up. Then came the rice, more broth and stirred up again. Then four sliced green onions. This was a meal in itself but the teal took it over the top,

teal and rice.jpg   So nice we were able to eat on screened in porch. As we finished deer showed up in food plot 40 yards from us. Wonder if they knew we were snacking on their kin?

2 pork butt with big chunks of garlic stuck in are in the smoker for tomorrow.  Low and slow. Only other seasoning is some weird looking Hawaiian salt, looks like red dirt, but that was what wife wanted on it.  I think the plan is to take some home made bbq sauce and brew up a cup or so of crazy stout kona coffee to add to it for the final result of pulled pork.  Hopefully I will remember to take a photo or 2.  Right now, after mowing and working on food plot and some fence my recliner has me trapped.  Bummer.

The butt are now bacon ed and bagged with coca cola to marinate in, on their way to that magic temp so they pull apart easy.  Oh and wife says NO to th kona coffee bbq sauce.  If I had my way it would have gotten injected with marinade and into the bag would have gone some apples from the orchard.  But sometimes you just have to do what you are told.

Beautiful weekend in KC. Anyhoo, Kathy blows in with some great looking filet mignons, a couple sweet potatoes, a loaf of bread, a bagged salad, and three bottles of locally made pop. All I had to do was fire up the grill and char some meat. Well—not all tenderloins are created equal. They can be dry or gritty, especially if they’re over cooked. But, these were excellent. I cut mine in half, thinking I was going to save half for tomorrow, before I thought to take a picture.

So, excuse the poor photo.

These Brittanys have learned to expect a few scraps when I grill. I have learned it’s best to keep them outside while we eat after grilling  😀

I am thinking they are wondering if there might be a lobster tail on the counter?
