Ranger Z22 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Could not agree more champ. I do not have a spinning Rod (coffee grinder), in my boat. I am trying a 2500C ambassador reel, on a light casting rod, 6lb test. I am throwing the bait fine, still working on this combo z22

There have been many days I never pulled a casting rod out of the box, even before the varmint crawled in the boat. Can't imagine fishing Table Rock without them. Champ188 1

No need to off set, one of these on each side of boat? “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein

I'm talking back in the mid-80s when they were a platinum color. It was a jewel and the reel I learned to pitch with. I spent no telling how many hours on my back porch with that old reel and a 3/8-ounce jig with the hook cut off pitching at various targets I would set up in the yard. Then one day I was fishing with George Cochran down in southeast Arkansas for an article in the old Arkansas Gazette and we were pitching plastic worms back up under overhanging cypress trees and he said, "Dang, you're pretty good at that!" He was still a couple of years away from winning his first Bassmasters Classic championship in 1987 but nevertheless, that compliment was one I never forgot.
Terrierman Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Little known fact about Mr. grizwilson: He was appointed Honorary Grand Potentate of the spinning rod and reel workers full employment organization a few years back. grizwilson 1
dtrs5kprs Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 I'd be so nervous I would not be able to fish if my rods were hanging out like that. The little 2500 could certainly work, but might be a pretty tough find if you don't already have one. I bought one of the little Ryobis a few years back for about $20 on eBay. Not even sure why anymore, maybe just a wave of nostalgia.
