New Nitro Z21 To Be Unveiled At Classic

The customer service/warranty reports out there on Nitro would scare Jason and Freddy Krueger out of the horror film business. Sure as heck scared me off from buying one when I was considering it a couple of years ago. Thank goodness a couple of friends opened my eyes to something beyond price,

There are many personal accounts available online and elsewhere with the common theme that if you are going to make a hull warranty claim with Tracker/Nitro, you might as well just bring an attorney with you because it's gonna be a fight. Sure, you can read/hear anything about any boat, but when the bad outweighs the good by a large margin, it tends to scare folks off.

The J.D. Power awards are pretty telling ... BassCat and Ranger are consistently at the top for customer satisfaction. Says a lot in my book.

And an old narrow beam champion 202 or 203 will outperform the cat in every way except top end.

A Basscat Eyra and an old narrow beam Champion 202 with the exact same setup would be a good race for sure. I'm a little biased but I'd take bets on the Champ.

My response was to Balsabee's question, so what is it they perform well in. The reason the comparison was with the Puma,is because of his other question, say a bass cat. I have spent considerable time in both the Puma and Z8.

Is bass cat the best built bass boat? Probably (my opinion). Does it out perform all other boats in every aspect? No (again my opinion). I have had several bass cat owners comment on how well the Z8 rides, they also tell me it's

not bass cat fast. Bass cat builds there storage in the boat, this makes the boat more rigid(solid) it is also the reason the chop is felt more in the ride. Is this bad? No, but yes you can feel it more than in the Z8.

Everytime the bass boat arguement is brought up i never see anyone talk about Skeeter. I dont own one but i was wondering if they are not high up on the quality list or what. I always thought they looked good

The Skeeters I have been in rode pretty rough and wet. They were good fishing platforms and could float in less water than my Rangers could, and came over wood easier. Fished nice and level compared to some others, did not feel like you were standing uphill. Fast enough, and nicely put together. I have trouble getting past rough and wet though.

My skeeter is the smoothest ride I've ever been in. Got wet once, lake had 3 foot rollers...don't think many folk out that day made it back dry

Newer? Length? Curious myself, as I just had one of those "which boat to buy if you had to replace yours" conversations Sunday night.

To be fair, I have not been in a big Skeeter, or a newer one. That was just my impression of the 18'-19' boats. And I am used to riding in a barge. Just a bath tub really.

2007. 20 ft Iclass. I'm very biased but it is the smoothest riding bass boat I've been in. If I was to buy again, I'd look hard at a bass cat, skeeter quit making the Iclass, replaced by the FX series which isn't as smooth from what I hear.

I hope everyone who owns one of any make/model is happy with it and has a good experience. They all cost way too much, but we love what we do enough to pay the price. I like to say, if a guy is only happy when he's catching them, he needs to sell out and take up a cheaper pastime.
