You know why they are on back order right guys? You can thank champ for that one ha!

Not this time, Alex. LOL. Hook, Line & Sinker stores in Rogers and Bella Vista are "partner" stores with Bass Pro Shops, so they are able to carry BPS exclusive items. Last time I was in the Bella Vista store, they had some of all the new Hughes colors.

So ... not guilty this time!

The new warts might be a little prettier, but they will never hunt like the pre-rapala warts. The main reason most of the tournament boys like the pre-rapala warts is not the just the color, but the action. It' a little bit like the pre-2004 megasbass ito visions (straight eye version). These baits in some colors are bringing around $100. on Ebay. Like Rapala, they made a change (besides the eye) that was not a good move. I think with both lures it's all about the action. I still say, buy a few of the pre-rapala warts in the undesirable colors, ($5 to $10 on Ebay) and have Hughesy paint them. He has some great color schemes, that will catch fish.

I kind of fall on the other side of the fence about the old baits being that much better. I know some very good Wiggle Wart fishermen who say there isn't a dime's difference in the old and the newest ones. Granted, there were some made around the Rapala transition time that just plain sucked, but my sources tell me the new Original Series baits will catch em just the same as the pre-Rap ones.

As long as I'm hearing that from the caliber of Wiggle Wart winders that I'm referring to, you boys can duke it out over the pre-Rap ones without me.

Gotta say, too, that my feelilngs are influenced by the fact that I'm usually throwing something else when the water temp hits that 50-degree mark. I've had some good days on a Wart and feel that I'm a fair hand with it, but I'm much better with another early-spring tactic.

I tell almost everything here. Almost.

And what maybe that champ

Can probably narrow it down pretty easily considering he doesn't fish anything deeper than 6 feet. So just go over to Tackle Warehouse and search crank baits that run 0-5 feet then throw a dart and you have your answer. That or a War Eagle blade.

Crank baiting is all about deflection and speed. My biggest fish while fishing a wart was using a NEWER one. But my best stringer came off of the OLDER one.
