jolicious Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I hear ya. Painting is definitely a winter hobby for me
jolicious Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Before I forget - Sometimes there are really (I mean REALLY) good deals at Dick Blick. They cater to teachers, but anyone can purchase.
Fish24/7 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 nice work jolicious and thanks for the Dick Blick tip
fishinwrench Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I have 2 or 3 DD-22's I'd like to have done like the pattern on the right. Any chance someone could get them done by late August ?
Lvn2Fish Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Do any of you gentleman have tips for painting stock wiggle wart eyes? I've been painting them with the old bagley/rapala look. I figure some sort of stencil needs to be used. I'm just not sure how to go about it yet.
5bites Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 That is a freakin sweet color combo and nice stencil work too! I had to make a stencil for the storm eyes. It was a pain getting it right. There's a guy that sells stencils on eBay if you contact him he will make you an eyes stencil. I was about to that point before I finally got mine right. Or what I consider right anyway. Far from perfect. The pupils aren't centered well on my test lure. Terrible pics but it's all I have on my phone. Fish24/7 and jolicious 2
Lvn2Fish Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Thanks for the kind words. Very nice parrot style color scheme. I don't know why I didn't think of using a wiggle wart molded stencil and drilling out two different sized circles, for two sets of stencils. Thanks for the fast reply. Just the thought I needed to get those creative thoughts flowing again. These rain days off work have got me going stir crazy, might as well paint something. I'll post some pics of what I come up with.
5bites Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Please do! I drill holes to mark center. Then I used a dremel to oblong the holes. That's the tricky part. It was hard to duplicate for both sides. It's important on a wart since you see both eyes at once.
