bump

who's been busy painting this winter?

i've got about a dozen ready for a top coat

Thinking about it. Have to get a few hundred jigs poured first...

Have several old baits that need new clothes. Mud Bugs and such. Bought them for that purpose.

I received an airbrush for a present in November and have been playing around with it since Christmas.  I had previously used spray paint etc. to customize a few baits.  I have several ready to clear, but I am leery on what to use due to weight (especially w/jerkbaits as I have had sinking results in the past).  It has been a ton of fun so far!  If anyone has any recommendations for clearing jerkbaits feel free to give some advice.  Here are a few I have been working on.

I use 3 types of clear, here's my experience.

Devcon 2 Ton 30 minute  I brush on jerkbaits and topwaters , then they are put on a lure turner till dry

Envirotex Lite  brushed on topwater plugs and jerkbaits, yes it's thin and runny at first so I brush it on and spin on a lure turn, must be mixed perfectly or it will not dry properly!

both good options, I just use whichever one I happen have on hand at the time...

Dick Nite S81 for dipping cranks and spoons. just dip or brush on and hang  but don't let the s81 drip back into the dipping jar!  brush off the extra drips as it drips off with a tiny brush, wait a couple weeks before using. First be ABSOLUTELY sure the paint  is fully dried/cured. S81 has a tendency to wrinkle createx acrylic if the solvent in the paint  has not fully gassed off  and/or wasn't heat cured and completely dry before applying. I wait at least a week after painting before using s81. Don't use this indoors unless well ventilated, this stuff really stinks!! Some people like to use a thinner  and then shoot it/spray it on. If you use this stuff get a can of Bloxygen. Moisture cure top coats are very sensitive to air exposure and Bloxygen will help  with that. I use a small mason jar for dipping and fill it 3/4 full of S81. then will spray some bloxygen inside the original can and seal it back up, then another squirt or two in the mason jar when finished dipping, then screw the lid shut. so far so good!

Devcon 2 Ton 30 min is the most user friendly imo and the cheapest of the 3.  As long as you mix equal amounts, then just brush it on. Some people let Devcon hang dry but  I turn mine.

I'll put in a plug for Flex Coat high build rod finish as a clear. Needs to be turned, usually 12hrs or so, but most baits can take several coats without issues. Great for suspending flake, adding depth between colors.

I'm sorry, my mistake it's the same bait. I want one how much? IMO, that's the best looking spook I've ever seen!
