jolicious Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I've been pittlin' here and there the last couple of weeks. I had some deep cranks all painted / rigged and ready for the Legend of Lake Fork Tourney in May, but then was just told this week about a training schedule change that made me cancel the trip :-( Fish24/7, MOsmallies and dtrs5kprs 3

I tie all my jigs with at least 4-7 strands of purple. Gavin and Fish24/7 2

Guest Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I painted 2 weeks ago & screwed up my clear coats because it was 68 degrees in that bedroom overnight (20 degrees outside). The hotter the better for clearcoating with Etex. it doesnt cure all the way unless its been over 70 degrees for 8hrs. Those 2 degrees is a small room for error. So im going to paint during this cold snap, but hold the clearcoat until the next warming trend when the overnight low is above 50 degrees (its warmer in my house on those nights)
Guest Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I have a real hard time with D2T because the 30min is so thick, I get about 5 minutes to clear a crankbait before it starts setting up. Cutting it with denatured alcohol seems to help but makes it more brittle. Also D2T will turn a susp jerkbait into a cinder block. However it will help a RK crawler turn into a slow riser & it can suspend with a #4 spintech treble on the belly hook. Spintechs have been my secret weapon to getting regular PreRap Warts to be suspenders using the #6 on the rear hook. They help on susp jerkbaits that are slow risers with the head or tail pointing up. The added weight of the spintech allows the jerks to sit horizontal & lie motionless or sink slightly. Never again will I add split rings or wrap lead around stock trebles. The spintech fixed all those issues and made lure modification very simple.
Guest Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 You can't really tell, but this a a pro green version with teal green to purple color shift "chameleon" paint. It's so natural looking on the back & belly, can't wait to use them. These photos are the same bait with different light angle & flash on/off. Notice the #6 spintechs on the tail?
Guest Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 These are RK crawlers with matte plasti dip coat. V38, watermelon red & green pumpkin orange. The watermelon red caught 70-100 bass last fall right before the flood. Notice the #4 spin techs?

You can see the shift just fine. Looks like you got your V38 green dialed in too. That's a hard color to match. Even the old factory color varied some. Fish24/7 1
