fishinwrench Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Doing things to make fish see your bait better is seldom a smart move. In flyfishing/fly tying you learn pretty quick that masking the details of a fly in clear water is the best thing you can do. I'd much rather a fish sense that there is something there, moving around, that is about the same size and shape as the things it eats....than to show a fish something it can get a real good look at. dtrs5kprs 1

I can think of something that pretty much matches that definition. ?

Exactly...however, I think there is kind of a happy medium. In clear water I don't want the fish to be able to see the lure well. In murky water, I want it to see it well enough to attack it precisely. So my clear water lure colors blend into whatever background I think the fish will see them against, while my murky water colors have more contrast. Forgot to show this one...my walking tube lure: Mitch f, Fish24/7 and fishinwrench 3
Guest Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 I stopped off at the Kings river store & found a chrome sexy Shad KVD 1.5, it might get a black back tonight. Also picked up war eagle spinnerbait in cole slaw with the biggest Colorado blades they make.
Guest Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Al, you might be onto something with that walking tube. It kinda reminds me of the first generation swimbaits that Castaic produced in the early 90s. I still have the bream that's brand new in the box.
Guest Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Here's my "warrior" chrome & black cotton Cordell super spot. Its caught a 25lb limit in its lifetime.
