jdmidwest Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I just posted a response and noticed my Avatar has been upgraded to OAF Lifetime Member. I remember the days when it read "speckled frog" or "crusty chum", some silly little moniker. I looked at my profile and realized I have been online here and a member for 9 years this week, 4,883 posts, almost 19k views to my profile. Time sure rolls on. I was searching the net this morning prepping for a trip to Pickwick Lake this weekend and found one fishing report that was 2 weeks old. Funny, there is not a website in that area that gives up free fishing info like we do on here. I think that was how I stumbled on here 9 years ago, I was planning a weekend trip to Taneycomo and Phil's site popped up. I was able to prep and plan based on info from this site. And was able to catch fish in a strange location without finding a guide. It would really be nice to see more of this on the net. Maybe there is on Facebook, never even tried to look there. Thanks again for all you do Phil. Ham, MOsmallies, J-Doc and 2 others 5 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
vonreed Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Well aren't you special. I've been here 4 months longer and I don't get to be a Lifetime Member. Lol. Congrats. And I still have a goofy name, lol.
ness Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I reviewed your contribution here JD, and felt you had earned the title. Two important things to note (1) this is a provisional title, subject to review and renewal every 90 days, and (2) it's purely ceremonial. Congratulations. David Unnerstall 1 John
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 7, 2015 Root Admin Posted April 7, 2015 Dang... I had to look. I didn't remember seeing that before- and I didn't remember changing any "ranks" to that name. BUT I looked and- if you have more than 3000 posts, your rank changes to it. I set that up years ago, giving members different ranks, changing with the number of posts. The rank names are all the fishes of Missouri. Random. I have been going back and changing what the forum calls titles. Members who joined, and are still active, back in 2005 and early 2006 I've changed to OAF Charter Members. It's a work in progress.
jdmidwest Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 I did not mean to toot my own horn, just reminisce about why I even found this site in the first place. I may have been a lifetime member for years, but I noticed it tonight. Which led to looking at my profile, which I have not done in a long time. Weird that I happened to do it on a 9 year anniversary and a day I have been searching the net to try to find what to target on Pickwick this weekend. The main point of the post is that there is alot of info on here that does not exist in other areas. jdmidwest Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 perhaps there should be a decal to proudly display on their boat. Or maybe a Jersey I have the decal on a boat that I don't own anylonger, I guess. Phil has sent those out from time to time for promo. T-shirts to all original members would be great, lol. Feathers and Fins Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Phil needs to bring more stickers to NWA next time he is over here also. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Kayser Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 You got me thinking, so I went and checked my profile. I joined July '06, when I was 16, and have ~890 posts. Not a lifetime member, not a charter member, but I'm glad to have found the place. Thanks to you guys, I've seen massive floods, record fish, new techiques, and tips on when I should just drop off the radar and go fishing, that I never would have seen in person. The few of you I've met on steam have not disappointed, either. If it weren't for this site, I might actually be productive. Instead, I just daydream about when I can make another trip to try for my first walleye or striper. There is no other place like this on the Internet, so thanks to everyone for keeping it awesome.
