Is this thing a decent search bait that I can fish fast to locate some decent fish and then lock down on the area and pick it clean with other baits?

That's what I was doing a couple of weeks ago, drag the wobbler, get what bites I could, then follow up with the Ned.

I use 20lb red label seaguar , excellent dragging bait

I'm trying out the Sunline structure line. It has even less stretch than shooter. I'm just one trip in on it. So far I can say the abrasion resistance is great but I'm undecided if I like it better than shooter. We shall see. I'm using it in pitching and skipping applications. It may end up more suitable for casting and dragging (wobble head, football jig) which is obviously what it was designed for really. It has a low diameter.

Jim Rodgers called crankbaits tourist baits. And he made and sold em at Rodgers lures. I still have a bunch of deep jims, slim jims and fat jims.

I pull the swing head with10 lb P line flouro on a 7' Duckett Med action caster . Sounds light compared to some other guys, but it doesn't get stuck much, lures have better action and more bites in the clear water IMO. Starting to think I do nothing but fish finesse techniques.

I have heard this before, right Dave? "Idiot baits". Just cast them out and reel them in.

There are guys after those Rogers baits. They're not worth a whole lot but there is a market.
