Members zosk Posted April 14, 2015 Members Posted April 14, 2015 Ok guys, I am going pretty far back here, but It was probably around 25 years ago when I remember *everyone* on tablerock was throwing electric blue worms. Any of you still throwing these? I don't have any of them and can't say I've bought any in years.....been reading the board though and it just brought back memories of that particular lure for some reason.
Ham Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Yes I do remember and yes I still likely have some and NO I don't throw them anymore. Likely they would still get bitten from time to time. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
fishinwrench Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 8" Electric Blue Larew was a hot number on LO back when we had milfoil and the water was blue. Can you even buy Tru-Turn worm hooks nowadays ? Jim Elam 1
dtrs5kprs Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Still throw electric blue every summer in grass lakes. Even the occasional electric blue firetail or chartreuse tail.
Boobie Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Hey wrench, got some in a box somewhere. Just cant throw any fishing stuff away.
gitnby Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Remember them well! My Stratos is a '93 that replaced an '88. I remember transferring all of my old plastics into the new one in 1993. May still have a bag of them somewhere in the bottom of a storage compartment? How about the old motor-oil or brown worm? Maybe at the next OAF event, we should have a separate category for biggest bass caught on a bait that's older than Jordan Spieth? jolicious 1
arsenal1477 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Wrench- funny you say that. Still using Brute Tru-Turns to this day..on occasion. skeeter 1
fishinwrench Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Wrench- funny you say that. Still using Brute Tru-Turns to this day..on occasion. I think the only reason I quit them is because I started dragging C-rigs and they didn't work very well for that. So to avoid carrying separate hooks for Texas/Carolina rigging I changed over to Gamakatsu/Owner style hooks. Those Tru-Turns did me well for a lot of years. Had to sharpen them though!
Quillback Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 How about the old motor-oil or brown worm? Zoom motor-oil Trick worm is still a good one to throw.
Old plug Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 A friend was rummaging around in his basement and found a bag of 25 of the large sized wine colored Flip Tail worms that dated all the way back to the Mid 60's. You could still read the price tag. It was $9 and something. Only change in them over about 50 yrs was they have taken a slight set but straighten out again. I tried one and it caught fish just like it did long ago. Over the years I have become less and less concerned about Plastic worm color. The big thing it seems to me is action or lack of that counts and the odor and how they are fished. I use a lot of Big bite 9/12 inch worms,Net bait in the same size plus Zoom Old monster, and Big Dead Ringer. GITNBY------ Almost everything I have lots of brown and watermelon brown mixes
