Asian carp are filter feeders, so the chance of you hooking one on a fly is slim, unless you start snagging them in the face.

Nah, they gang up in large numbers in moving water below spillways, ect. all facing the same direction.

All you have to do is drift a fly at their level and when you get the depth right the line will go tight.

The fun ends when you have to touch the greasy basturds.

I'm not doubting that you could drift a fly into one's mouth if there are a bunch stacked up, but in my experience I've never had an asian carp take a fly let alone chase a fly like a common carp will. It's just not very much fun fishing for asian carp in the chocolate milk rivers and lakes of St. Louis.

Well they are kinda spooky so you pretty much need dirty water or you'll never get close enough to them. When they are in a pack you'll see faint flashes of white as they sit there and gulp water. Just fish to those flashes.

Takes sight fishing to another level.

I do remember the guys from ozarkchronicles (many years ago) catching bigheads below Rend Lake while chasing hybrids, normally on blue/white or gray/white deceivers. Not sure about the silvers. They also got into buffalo, gar, common carp, and even hybrids and white bass on occasion, all stripping shad patterns in the tailwater. Never did make it down for any of that, though.

Actually the guy who started that action was called "The Plumber".

We killed em down there.

You cast a chartreuse and while clouser in them and never get bit, but the guy next to you throws a blue and white and they hammer it one after another?

You switch to blue and white and it's on for you too.

In one day I caught largemouth, whites, hybrids, drum, big head carp, silver carp, common carp, flathead catfish, gar and some kind of huge suckers.

All specimens were huge.

The water on the other hand was less than desirable to wade in.

Nope.

Used my old one because that water over there is stanky.

Kept the new one for clean, clear saltwater.

I caught this one yesterday on the fly. Took a rubber legged prince nymph with a gold beaded head of all things, threw at them for a while and could not get a take until I tied this on. Since the location is a tough spot to stalk carp at and sight fish them I will give it up. Forest Park Jefferson Lake in St Louis. Everything has to align for you to have a productive day, weather, water clarity, and fish activity. However there are good fish to be had at the lake.

Nice fish Jack. There are a lot of big carp in Jefferson Lake, as well as some huge Koi.
