Chief Grey Bear Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Ned seems to think Chuck invented everything. Other than Neds account, I can find no evidence that Chuck did indeed invent the Beetle Spin. Every bit of evidence points to Virgil Ward. All of the players of the game have passed on so its pretty though to discount it. Other than all written history points to the other players. Unimog Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 The beetle spin was made for some time by bass buster in Amsterdam mo, just a few mile from me. It was eventually bought by Johnson outdoors and the plant closed. To me what makes the Midwest finesse is the high floating property of the z-man plastic. You don't get anything even close to the same action with a salt heavy bait like a Yamamoto senko. Maybe a beetle spin plastic floats but I don't have any handy to test.
fishinwrench Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I truly don't get the Beetle spin comparison everyone keeps throwing out there. Have you not seen the swimming pool videos ? Lemme see you get a Beetle grub to shimmy and wiggle like THAT ! All I'm waiting for is a BIGGER one. Like 4.5" and as big around as my thumb....then I'm all in.

Think of it like this. Football. You are a woman representing the bass. One is the NFL. The other is NCAA. Both are the same. Both run the same plays. One apparently does it better. The woman can't tell the difference. Walcrabass Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Fishnwrench, I am not very good at this computer stuff. I have had problems processing a PM message in the past. If you would like to try to PM me I have some friends that have an idea for a big "Ned Rig" kind of bait. Between us we have not used it a lot yet but we do know it works. It is kind of a "power/magnum" approach to a bait that is similar. I will get their contact info to you if you and I can get together through the air waves. Walcrabass
ten_scoach Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 How about that. I figured it would be completely different because of the way it stands up vertically when on the bottom Terrierman 1

Daryk Campbell Sr Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 But is it new? I mean it's just a beetle spin, only larger, and it doesn't have a blade, so it's really just a grub with no tail, which is really just a worm that creme was making back in the 1800's, or..... well it still uses a hook. Those haven't changed since Columbus so maybe someone is trying to capitalize off of him, after all, I am sure that they fished for food while crossing the ocean. Yup I agree Dave is holding us all down. We should band together and only buy from Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, and Cabelas. Oh, and Walt, your name implies that you are crabby. ( I still like your rants though.) ness and jtram 2 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Walcrabass Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Love Ya Daryk. I truly like the way you relate things together. It shows creativeness and intelligence. Always remember that all things have something in common...... it is called molecules. As long as we return to them then all things are similar. I have to agree with you wholeheartedly concerning your thoughts on this matter. Not a lot of difference in things other than size, tails, shimmy, hooks etc. Which brings us to the point that all things that are similar will do the job in a similar way. Just for the record: Wall is for Walleye, Cra is for Crappie, and Bass is for Bass. Seems like I have had this conversation before?? Please don't think I rant.... it is just not in my nature.
