All you bass guys berating everyone else for keeping fish might just backfire as people like me who are now gonna take every legal fish outta table rock that i catch. Find something better to complain about.

Stockton seems to get as much crappie pressure as anyone but like has been pointed out the population seems great. Table Rock crappie run bigger though generally.

If we exploded the Beaver dam and had an actual river at the upper end of Table Rock it would help. That might be a little extreme though.

5bites, i remember when the eagle rock area and on up had the best crappie fishing on the entire lake. even after beaver was constructed, it was still that way, but when they started stocking trout below beaver, and they let all the cold water out to keep them alive, the crappie and bass population has been in a nose dive ever since. here is a prime situation where stocking could really benefit the fishery of the area.

and, just to add to the thread, i think i have already stated before that it sure would not hurt to not keep all your crappie and walleye. moderation in everything is good.

actually weve always kept all the legal bass for a family fry every year. They are easy to catch. Abundant and prolific. What blows my mind is that after 30 yearsof doing this. Still just as many fish. Its almost seems like you guys are incorrect about keeping fish.

I've fished up north a bunch, and have no problem with folks keeping pike to eat. There are lots of them, and even a small one provides a couple of nice meals.

Eating a trophy fish is just not awesome, regardless of species. Takes an incredibly long time for a pike to reach that size in those lakes.

I've said before that there's a reasonable number of fish that can be kept. I think there's a post on here somewhere where Phil quoted the MDC as saying that an overwhelming majority of bass anglers practice catch and release.

As long as it's a reasonable number, I'm OK with it. If every one of us kept every bass over 15" that we caught, they would not be abundant anymore. At least the keepers would not be.
