Well at any rate, it'll be me that gets blamed for bashing the Ned.

........Wait......was Ned even mentioned?.......

The next OAF tournament and cookout should be interesting by the look of things, respectable points made from both sides of the table but I think its sad to see this site divided into two groups because of one issue, we all share the same passion....to feel weight after the hookset. Some guys are always gona keep a few to eat, some are always gona release them, just the way it is.

dtrs5kprs answered those other questions quite well. ^^^

When I eat fish, and that is very occasionally, it is walleye. They are stocked in Table Rock. Bass are not.

Catch and release is a hot topic, so people know when they post photos/stories about killing fish that it's gonna start a poopstorm. Rickf particularly knew this when he started this thread because he did the very same thing 2 weeks ago. As denjac said, he's just poking the bear.

If you catch-and-kill guys don't like where these threads go, quit starting them. Kinda asinine to stir up crap and then complain about the smell.

champ, walleye are stocked because the lake did not have any to speak of. wish they do some bass stocking also, but the point is catch and release for walleye might be more valuable to the walleye population by comparison to bass. the other point, is at some point, if everyone did not keep any bass, they would get out of balance, and all you would have is a lake full of little ones.

ONLY ESTIMATES - Trying to avoid the inevitable hundred stories about the 12.5 Spot that weighed 3 pounds - not doubting, just pointing out this is just a quick chart I found online for anyone that wanted a pocket reference.

I like the reference to "24.5 inches"

if you ever watch mlf, hardly any 12 inch bass weigh 1 lb. they are always less. was just looking at the estimated weights on the chart, which makes no difference if everyone is going by the same chart.

Well if we have another OA One Bass tourney next March, and as of now I think we will, I don't think you'll see any fall out from these discussions. People on this site are pretty good folks once you meet them in person and I really doubt (and hope) anyone will carry over any hard feelings.

Some of the folks on here that have had the strongest things to say are actually some of the best people you will ever meet.

Can't speak for all of them, but I doubt most of the C&R guys have any interest in another gathering. Maybe the knifers can all congregate and have a fish fry.

The other half of the passion for us C&R guys is to watch that fish safely swim off to be caught again one day. That's where our passion is different from the knifers.

Yeah, that chart seems heavy compared to my golden rule weighmaster. They are all just a rough idea anyway. We had a paper Federation tmt once in IA using the weights from the board and we all were taking Polaroids of the fish on scales to compare. They were off quite a bit. Time of year is huge, as is the lake. Like you say, not a big deal if all are using the same numbers.

K's and brown fish are a little tougher. I've measured a ton of brown fish, and weighed a bunch too. Can guess them pretty close. I'm usually light and short when I guess on K's.

Polaroids...shoot, I'm getting old.
