bfishn Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 ... What's a knifer? Everybody gets a label. If you're not a basshole you're a knifer. Daryk Campbell Sr 1 I can't dance like I used to.
vonreed Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 As Von was saying, a knifer is one that keeps a legal stringer of bass for human consumption. You know I even disagree with this. I think these people feel this way even if you keep 1 bass. I personally have never kept a limit of bass. Only 1 or 2 at a time for a meal. I understand their point of somebody that goes dailly and keeps a fish everyday, but I seriously doubt that there is very many people that do this.
Chief Grey Bear Posted July 3, 2015 Author Posted July 3, 2015 I absolutely cringe when I see bass of any species on a stringer from the river. Not so much from a lake. Totally different population densities. But I'm no fan of them beating around live well all day to be released after you get your check. Or even if you don't. jdmidwest Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Why release them? The Ned Rig hooks them so deep they will die anyway. Might as well stick a knife in them and fry them. Better than letting the turtles have them. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
mjk86 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 A knifer is somebody who doesn't belong to the organization called PETA. Also known as people who eat meat. Most likely to be using an aluminum boat instead of a huge fancy top of the line fiberglass boat going from post to post and causing controversy. I really dont know why anyone would get a boat not made out of aluminum? Are there advantages to a fiberglass boat? If so what?
mjk86 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I really need to practice my ned rig skills. I caught a few dinks on it a while back fishing it like I would a weightless wacky worm. The big difference between the ned and other little finesse baits is efficiency, you can catch like 30 fish on the same stupid worm, so you end up spending more time with bait in the water and less time messing around with worms/lures. Its just like when you find a bunch of white bass going crazy on the surface....are you gonna throw a crankbait with 3 sets of treble hooks, or a spoon with just 1 small hook?

More options for hydro-dynamic hull designs and interior layout, less kiting in a breeze, quieter while fishing (no hull slap), more stable overall (because of its weight), you don't have to have high deep V style gunnels in rough water, no welds to break or rivets to leak, and they are prettier. Aluminum rigs are better in the ultra-shallows, easier to tow, require less horsepower on the back and less powerful trolling motors on the front.

Im pretty sure its the last part that sells the most.
