This little one was crawling around this morning. One of the guys about stepped on him. He's off in the woods behind the shop now. Some folks want to kill every snake there is, especially venomous ones (which this little guy is - Pygmy Rattlesnake) but that's not me. So I just tossed him over the fence, hopefully to never be seen by any of us again.

Cool!

I've never seen one before.

First rattlesnake I've ever seen in Missouri myself. My grandson who lives in Arkansas was bitten by one of those on his little toe when he was about five. Had a hell of a time getting well from it, his toe is still deformed. I have heard their venom is very toxic.

Have seen a few timber rattlers around here but never one of those. Very special find!

Cool find. I have never seen one of those in Mo. or anywhere else for that matters! Glad you didn't kill it.

Did he go peacefully on the shovel, or did you have something to contain him with during the relocation?
