vernon Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Correct, some are sensitive to contrarian, deliberately obnoxious, accusatory, contradictory and deriding comments on a totally innocent posting. Always someone (you) out there ready to pounce-on, complain-about and belittle some total stranger's thoughts and information. If you can't say anything positive just shut up ! You should have learned that by the time you were 12 yrs old but didn't. FYI, Mr. Wonderful hydrology expert, lower water levels on the lower Miss. DO give the COE the "CHOICE" whether or not to release water from the Tri-Lakes chain. Prior to the subsiding of the Miss. levels, there was no "choice", the high lake waters were held back to protect the Farmers in the Arkansas Grand Prairie area as well as further downstream on the White and the Miss.. Although I recently retired after more than thirty years with the COE Kansas City District, I'm sure you are indeed much more knowledgable about such matters than me and I will defer to you regarding all future COE matters and discussions. Thanks also for correcting my nasty habit of being contrarian, deliberately obnoxious, accusatory, contradictory and making deriding comments on totally innocent postings. I guess I'm just a natural born jerk and a bad person in general. I will do my best to improve my behavior in the future. Thank you again. skeeter Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 You're quite welcome, now if you had just kept your all-knowing, contradictory comment to yourself in the first place instead of popping-off about someone's post that wasn't remotely directed at you and none of your business, none of this unfortunate exchange would have happened. You continue to prove my point with each succeeding outburst but, again, you started it.
fishinwrench Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Polite arguments are so funny. What's the worst thing you can call someone without cussing ?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 6, 2015 Author Root Admin Posted September 6, 2015 I don't understand the beef... is this a Kansas vs Missouri thing? Cause that's the only I can see. Unless you guys have history.
skeeter Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Phil, When I make a simple, hopefully informative post about downstream water levels and the opportunity for the ACOE to reduce water levels in the Tri-Lakes chain from the lengthy and troublesome high levels this Summer and some know-it-all blasts me for my use of the word "choice", yeah, that sets me off. No, there's no "history" and that's the other part of the problem. Total stranger (to me) types an accusatory comment about my use of the word "choice" (what else would you call it when none existed before ?) and I'm not going to "take it".
skeeter Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Polite arguments are so funny. What's the worst thing you can call someone without cussing ? Wrench...answer...a dishonest Mechanic ! ;-)
fishinwrench Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Nah, that doesn't sting at all. Now if you were to call me.... A Backlash. A wind knot. Or a biologist. Then I might tense up a bit.
vernon Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I don't understand the beef... is this a Kansas vs Missouri thing? Cause that's the only I can see. Unless you guys have history. I'm with you Phil. I don't get it either. I didn't mean anything more than I said which was that corps doesn't get to pick and choose what they do in regard to releases. Regardless, I will withdraw from the discussion and return to safer ground as an observer of the many informative posts on your great site. Thanks. Old plug Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Bite and Bill------- You may not feel it is a issue but it is a national issue There are very few spots in the nation that have truly clean water. I been pretty keen on what has been going on up here. I KNOW sewers are the only answer. Enclosed systems for the building to the treatment plant. And the treatment plant better be something well constructed. The one here in Morgan county is tested almost constantly by a monitor. The return water is passed thru and long tray of floridation liights. The water is devoid of anything when it is returned Any subdivision or system, pools etc that relies on the sun and evaporation is not as good as claimed. Basic thing is anything that goes in the ground stays in the ground and travels through the quafers in the rock like a highway both up and down hills forced by pressure. I was at Taneycomo earlier this year and looked at a lot of the walls in the cuts down there as we passed .Table Rock I area is just loaded with quafers. Time will tell about Table Rock. It is still young but it's time is coming I am sure.
