Members Gators Posted August 18, 2015 Members Posted August 18, 2015 Found out over the weekend there is a cave on Table Rock half way up a bluff, about 30 feet above normal levels and the cliff is 70 feet high. Is this cave good to explore and does anyone know what it's location is?
abkeenan Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Odd first post on a fishing website. That being said would be interesting to know if this exists.
vonreed Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Yes indeed it is an odd first post. Looks like somebody who does more cave exploring than fishing who is looking for info. I'd like to hear more about the cave also if anyone knows of it.
gitnby Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I'm sure there are several caves that we can't see from the water. The only one I can think of is a small one that is on the bluff opposite PT 7, a bit South of the Plaster Glass House below Slane Chapel Rd. In the Winter, with the afternoon Sun just over the 13 bridge, you can see it. Can't tell how deep or big it is, but I have seen a fox come out and sun himself right in front of it.
Champ188 Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Can't tell how deep or big it is, but I have seen a fox come out and sun himself right in front of it. I think they call that one The Foxhole. Thanks, folks. I'll be here all week. big c, dtrs5kprs, Mofloatjunkie and 2 others 5
Quillback Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 There's a cave or two in the bluffs on the lower Kings. I have no idea how far back into the rock they go, and it's not something that I would personally check out. I have zero interest in crawling into holes in the rock. magicwormman and Muddy Water 2
Members Gators Posted August 18, 2015 Author Members Posted August 18, 2015 Thank you for the replies. Below are some pics of it from the internet. I have been boating on Table Rock for over 40 years and not a lot of fishing--thus my first post. Mostly running between Cape Fair, Shell Knob, KC, the Dam and a few trips up past Cricket Creek. I haven't been down the lower Kings so this cave could be the one Quillback is referring to. Any mile marker or coordinates?
Quillback Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 That sorta looks like the Kings, but I can't say for sure, let alone know the coordinates.
dtrs5kprs Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Looks like a great place to find a nest of snakes. Believe I would pass on that thrill. Champ188, abkeenan, Deadstream and 2 others 5
