How many entrants were there and how many boats. I will go when I get to know the lake better.

not sure how many boats but 2500+ entrants

I think Wrench is on the right track here. Not spooking the fish is half the battle.

For sure. I have a tendency to end up to close or come in to hot. Slowing down and looking ahead to your next position helps a lot. But you know how it is when you get all keyed up.

I thought donging a jig off a lift or wacking a float woke them up for dinner ?

Back in the day when docks had actual foam they'd purposely try to make their lures bounce off of it as it went back in. Sound like a recipe to backlash to me. I've had fish come eat a skipping lure so I know it can be an attraction as well as a method to reach low to the water targets.

I like it! You know you're around years of clutter when you're around foam lol.

There is still acbitaround wrench. I remember seeing some down at Mill Stone a year are so ago fishing for crappie in the winter.  As a dick owner I will take in awed over regular foam any day. Never heard of bouncing a lure off foam. But ?I have stuck a hook into foam a time oe two.

I got to learn to check this IPad very closely. This is the newest version. You got to be ultra careful to check behind yourself. I never was any good at that. You should see the crap it puts out when I use the talking mode with it.

That's still not as bad as what I posted in the Maramec Springs section one day. I meant to say something about taking kid's down there fishing and it being filled with a bunch of "dinks" and I accidentally typed dicks! Somebody caught it before me and made a post quoting it. <_<
