Quillback Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 One of you Cards fans should buy this guy a ticket for the next game.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 13, 2015 Root Admin Posted October 13, 2015 Is that the guy who interfered with the catch years ago? Wonder where he lives?
moguy1973 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Cubs are hot and the Cards are not. The teams entering the playoffs hot are all winning, despite records or home team advantages. It is refreshing to see different teams in there doing well. I love the Cards but it might be time to root for the Cubs if they go on to the next level. They're due. But the Cards have pulled out clutch games this season- getting it done when they're completely down. We'll see if Lynn has his stuff. If he doesn't, hope the wind is blowing in at Wrigley! Matheny has Lackey going today on short rest. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
moguy1973 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Is that the guy who interfered with the catch years ago? Wonder where he lives? Yeah, that's Bartman. A bunch of people in Pittsburgh started a GoFundMe to get him a ticket to the Wild Card game and raised enough for like 4 tickets, but Bartman declined to take them. I think he still lives in Chicago. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Old plug Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Base Ball was a real big thing with my mothers side of the family when I lived in St Louis. In spite of that I would really love to seethe Cubs win the World Series. If the Royals pull through it should be a very fine World Series. the Cubs though are awful pumped to go the way. Been a long time for them. Chicago would go nuts.
Terrierman Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Theo has definitely made a difference for the Cubbies, you have to give credit. They've got a decent manager now too. Four rookies? FOUR? And they're playing unconscious. But I still like the Cardinals.
Quillback Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 ESPN had a "30 for 30" episode about the Bartman incident, it's called "Catching Hell". Good episode if they run it again. Also, interesting that they blew up the ball: The loose ball was snatched up by a Chicago lawyer and sold at an auction in December 2003. It was purchased it for $113,824.16 on behalf of Harry Caray's Restaurant Group. On February 26, 2004, it was publicly detonated by special effects expert Michael Lantieri.[18][19] In 2005, the remains of the ball were used by the restaurant in a pasta sauce. While no part of the ball itself was in the sauce, the ball was boiled and the steam captured, distilled, and added to the final concoction.[20]
jpb2187 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Cubs fans can B**** all they want about the Steve Bartman incident, they should've hung that shortstop out to dry for choking on that Cabrera double play ball @ the 5 minute mark of the second video. Flysmallie 1
Jerry Rapp Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Matheny has Lackey going today on short rest. the short rest thing rarely ever works out in this day and age. You win 100 games with a set rotation, and then you go and screw up the order of the rotation for a "must" win game. I am also not a fan of the Wainwright situation. He is a great pitcher, but he is basically on his third preseason appearance. They tried to do the same thing with Wacha last year coming back from injury and it blew up. I hope they manage to win somehow, but it won't be because of these decisions in my opinion.
