jolicious Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I saw on the website this afternoon that Oakley Big Bass is scheduled for April 2nd and 3rd next year - about 5 weeks earlier than usual. What does everyone think that will do to weights?
fishinwrench Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 To hell with the weights..... What's it gonna do to the supply of Wiggle Warts ?

Champ188 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Barring a crazy-early spring, it will take the tournament off the spawn, which can only be a good thing. Weights will be what they will be --- for one and all. However, it stands to reason that prespawn weights will be higher than with a midspawn or postspawn event. Should be a good tournament. Might fish it myself this year. jolicious, crazy4fishin and abkeenan 3
Quillback Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Check and see if Alex is going to fish it - if he is, ya'll should just stay home. My guess is it will take an 8 lb. fish or better to win. A big mama full of eggs. abkeenan and Muddy Water 2
Champ188 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Alex might be tied up that weekend ... just sayin. big c, Muddy Water, Quillback and 2 others 5
Fishin Hodge Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Judging purely off of previous years, the weights will be higher overall and Quill is likely correct, my guess would be at least a 7+ pounder to win. The bottom check weights probably won't be hugely different but marginally increased if my memory serves me correctly, but more fish over 5 lbs. to get the better checks is probably a safe bet. That being said my estimates for the Open were definitely not as accurate as some. Champ188 1
Sprint21fter Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 It took an 8.78 last time when the Big Bass was that early several big 7lbers were weighed. We had the foul weather front come in and the big girls were eating. Wiggle Wart caught the winning fish.
abkeenan Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 The way I figure is that water temps will be about 10 degree warmer than normal from all the surface water churning due to 4.1 million casts of Whopper Plopper's from 2 weeks ago til April. Which puts the water temps around 65-70 for that time of year......top water time.....more Plopping. Champ188, big c and Quillback 3
