trythisonemv Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Had the chance to get down there again and boy it was on fire today! I caught eight on bh prince nymph and five or six on the wooly bugger in both olive and black. Also, took a couple on the red midge. The best part was the elk hair caddis bite. it was aggressive. There were several hatches while i was there today. One of blue winged olives, another of pale blue duns I believe, and some other tiny white mayflys in various sizes id say from 18 to 22. They didn't seem to mind my 16 elk hair though. They tore it up in the current seams. Not to mention I caught my personal best crane creek mccloud rainbow! HE was in full colors and about fifteen inches long. here are some pictures from the day, first one is the big one. BilletHead, Buzz, Eric82 and 5 others 8
trythisonemv Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 I love that place! All alone quiet and plenty of fish to catch!
rumrunner Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 nothing else like it.i like to tell people who ask you'd better like to hike.and snakes....lol
Gavin Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Have the skills. Time to graduate and fish bigger water. They 11pt is fishing well right know. 12-14" average. Plenty of 15-16". Some bigger. Smallmouth and pickerel too. trythisonemv 1
trythisonemv Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 I've been meaning to try eleven pt and north fork of white. Just finding the time is tough. Crane is only a few minutes away so I have become obsessed lol
Flysmallie Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I don't think that the 11 Point is a graduated level above Crane. Different yes, better no. But I don't consider the 11 Point a trout destination. Not when the smallmouth fishing is that good. Nice report. ness 1
trythisonemv Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 I too think the quality on crane is top notch. I has made it difficult to go anywhere else. Especially now that I have gotten a good grasp o the layout and how it fishes and how cast in such close quarters to selective fish. I have still to figure out the lower wire road access. I haven't had as much luck down there. Seems right now to stopped up with brush in some of the places that I caught fish earlier this year. hoping to maybe wade a bit further when I have some more time. The trestle bridge down to the private property flags have been good to me lately.

I just find it amusing that so many people go to that river for the trout fishing when it's such a great place to catch smallmouth and pickerel. trythisonemv 1
