merc1997 Bo Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 just a little heads up. as don iovino was ordering jigs the other day, he mentioned to me that he had purchased the original wiggle wart molds and would be producing them with the original plastic. he is supposed to send me a few to see if i thought they ran and felt like the originals. i think he told me they we be selling for 9.99. how sweet would that be? i will keep you posted as i find out more. if they are truly like the originals, that will sure be great to not have to worry about losing one of my originals. bo
m&m Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Bo, if it works, he will be very busy. I'll certainly be a regular customer. Mike
merc1997 Bo Posted November 27, 2015 Author Posted November 27, 2015 i am betting that they will be of original exactness. iovino's robo worms are legendary. iovino pretty much pioneered drop shotting. since he is a basser, he understands that it needs to be made out of the exact same plastic and the same wall thickness. time will tell. bo

Old plug Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Wonder what it will do to. Collectors Mitch. Have a friend with at least 100+ of those wart most of them in original boxes.
merc1997 Bo Posted November 27, 2015 Author Posted November 27, 2015 old plug, i would rather be able to buy them to fish with at 9.99 rather than what some are giving for an original. bo dtrs5kprs 1
Jerry Rapp Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Old Plug, I would think the collector value of the originals is very much intact. They can't make them anymore. If these "new" ones don't satisfy the warters, the originals will go up in value more! Something smells fishy about Don Iovino's purchase. Why hasn't SK or Pradco bought the molds before? I can't believe Iovino could out bid a big company for the molds. Maybe there is more of an inside story to this. It will be interesting to see how it develops. Mitch f, Champ188 and fishinwrench 3
merc1997 Bo Posted November 27, 2015 Author Posted November 27, 2015 i don't believe the new ones are exactly the same. just going on what was told to me straight from the horse's mouth, not hearsay. bo
Mitch f Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I noticed when I scanned them that there were many variations of the "Original" warts. Some had line tie recesses, some didn't. The plastic didn't always appear to be the same either. Someone told me once that the ones made in Mexico were the good ones......I really don't know. But about 5-6 years ago I was hired to scan the original molds. They sat in my office for a week on my surface table. dtrs5kprs and MOsmallies 2 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
fishinwrench Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Overall shape, thickness of the plastic, size and weight of the rattle, and positioning of line tie and hook hangers is all that should truly matter. What is so difficult about reproducing Wiggle Warts ? Champ188 1
