Guest Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 I'm sitting in a hotel room in Golden, CO with nothing but a suitcase & work itinerary (no fishing gear). Do any of you know where I can find a good trout stream or bank fishing hole that I can visit here (just to get out of the room)? I've got No rental car, only public transportation, cab ride or walking distance. There's a clear creek right in the middle of town with a bronze statue of a fly fisherman catching trout. Something tells me it might be the spot. Who knows, I got 3 more days before I go back home. Any suggestions on general tourism, fishing, etc? (I know about the Coors factory, its about 4 blocks away)
fishinwrench Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Who allows themselves to get sent to CO without fishing gear? You deserve to stay in your room ! Plastic_worm, ness and mic 3

Ham Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Ask at the hotel if there is a flyshop in town. Get there if possible and at least talk fishing. Its tough to be that close and not have enough daylight hours to justify the effort of bringing gear and buying the fishing license. It would be killing me. Mitch f Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Yea, I'm stuck in Little Rock and Ft Smith for 2 days....no time to fish. Isn't Golden Colorado the home of Coors? "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Guest Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Yep, I found a guide service that does half day wade fishing trips. Clear creek is the spot & it runs past the Coors factory. I didn't bring any fishing gear because it's getting dark at 5pm & I've got to fly back on Friday. Kinda sucks, but at least I will know what to bring next time. The guided trip would be ideal, that way I don't have a bunch of gear stowed on the plane. Either way, it's a really nice little tourist town.
Guest Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 The view from my room is overlooking clear creek apparently. I can't wait to find the local outfitter after work.

podum Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Clear Creek runs right along the highway up the draw into the mountains. I've fished it several times. You can pull off the highway and trek down to the creek. There are brook trout in the pools and riffles. Hope you have some decent boots. lots of chunk rock on steep banks. But lots of access. PM me if you want more info. Anywhere above the brewery along the highway will work. Cab could handle if you arrange a pickup time. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
