I got a question for you wrench, not sure you can answer it but here goes, when I was down at the lake a few weeks ago when I went to fire the motor up it would turn over a few good times then stop with what I would call a RRRRRRRRRRRR sound , turn the switch off, turn it over a few times and get the same, then next time it would turn over and start, might be a dumb question asking on line , but, thinking maybe starter or silenoid??? 96 mercury 150 EFI, what do ya think??

Your starter drive gear is disengaging from the flywheel and free spinning.  That can happen when the motor almost starts...but doesn't.  Or if battery connections are loose/dirty, or battery voltage is low.

So, clean and tighten battery connections, charge the cranking battery up good, and apply a little lube on the starter shaft (a few drops of your outboard oil will do fine).  If it still does it after that let me know.

Thanks wrench, If that doesn't help I will bring it to ya, and yes, Merry Christmas!!

Yep.   Yet many more hybrids are caught than walleye.  Should be some rather large walleye swimming around.

Seems a waste to put walleye in here, cuz nobody can catch 'em.

I normally might be offended by the "nobody can catch them" but this WAS an exceptionally bad year for me in the catching walleye department.  LOTS of zeros in that column, but enough other takers that are quite tasty "seconds" or "thirds"  to keep me at it.  There ARE fisherman out there catching them regularly and not advertising that fact or there would be 20,000 glitter sleds competing for them the next day - best to keep those rigs focused on green fish that we don't want anyway.   Yep,  this year I truly could not catch the walleye to save my life, but next time out my luck may turn.

I'll hafta call your bluff on that one :)

I know ALOT of really good fishermen on this pond and not a single one of them can set out to catch walleye and come home with more than one occasionally.

I'd almost bet that if they had a walleye tournament here and invited the best walleye anglers in the country that not a single limit would get weighed.

They did. As I recall several years back and it was a complete failure. I might be wrong about that maybe it was some walleye pro tried to catch walleye in here and had a terrible time. You remember that wrench.

You gents are entitled to your beliefs, please by all means carry on in pursuit of those green fish.

You might, however, just consider the next time you happen to notice the number of boats rigged with kickers, rod holders, etc. on the lake these days - just what in the world are those fellows are fishing for???  I'm pretty sure I know.
