Missed you to Cody.  Maybe we can go sometime this winter!

There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

Water conditions were honestly pretty awful. Being local, I would not have fished those conditions IF I was fishing solo. Given that everyone made an effort to get here, we put our heads down and made it happen.

We all caught fish. Nice fish. Pretty fish. Some big fish. but about 1/3 as many as we should have had we had good water. I've gotten quite spoiled by the shear numbers that the White produces. I guess I needed to reset my expectations.

But the real point of these get togethers is to meet some of our OA brothers and share their company. It is my pleasure to spend time with this outstanding group of gentlemen. Crappy water conditions did not impair that at all. I really enjoy these get togethers. It really is one of the best events in my year.

It was nice to (finally) get to meet Bill Babbler. I'm glad N9BOW got to make the trip down. I'm looking forward to seeing his place on the lower river come together. I hope I get a chance to learn some fly fishing from SIO3 in the not to distant future. This was my first time to get to fish with Quillback. He did great, but he's always done well on these trips. Phil Lilly made the trip down as well. He was as quiet as ever, but as generous as ever also.

I got to spend more time with LRF, Griz, and Terrierman. I think I would get in real trouble if I lived closer to any of them. I'm sure I would love every minute of it though. Simply outstanding men. I'll never tire of their company.

Richard Cross was nice enough to send down a bunch of his new HD Zig Jigs and some Zig Jig hats. I tried to get everyone there some jigs and I hat. If I screwed up and missed someone please PM me and I will make it right. Thanks Richard!

Thank You to Phil Lilly! I know that maintaining the forum takes a lot of effort. It's very unlikely that I would have met any of these great people if OA wasn't in existence.

Yeah, we're pretty much tip top.  It's good to give others a standard they can aspire to.:D

Seriously, we had a great time.  Everyone there is good people, I would trust any and all with my wife, my wallet, my dog or my boat.  It doesn't get any better than that in my world.

Special thanks to Phil, and he knows why.

Yep Cody, we missed having you there.  I imagine that next year we'll probably go again on the first weekend in December that is a week after Thanksgiving, seems to be the date that works best.

Just make sure the lake isn't turning over when we have the next one.  I think we should all hold you personally responsible for the poor water quality and high generation.

Glad we got to fish together, just wish it had been a little better day, then we might have been able to actually recover lost drag chain(s)!.  Man , that was some water was it not?

Man you're right about the water Rick.

I've never seen it that bad and I've been going down there for over 40 years.

Rick, we need to start putting together a bribery fund and get whoever it is in charge of water releases to ease up on the weekend we are there.

Did anyone try to fish up closer to BS dam?  I wonder if it was any clearer up there?  I prefer fishing within the first ten miles or so when the water is really cranking, but if the culprit was lake turnover then maybe it wouldn't have helped.

I think I actually sent out the invite for everyone the first year of this deal, then have missed the last two.  Last year it was work, this year it was a newborn.  That first year in the snow was one of my favorite fishing trips, and mainly for the company.  Hopefully I can make it next year.

They did better early in the day on Friday further upstream.  By the time I got on the water around 2:00 ish on Friday it was already very noticeably brown and off colored at Buffalo Shoals.  Kind of trashy too, but the real problem was the volume and color (at least in my opinion).  And it just got browner and browner over the weekend.

Hopefully you will be there next year.  We do seem to be able to have a pretty good time.  And we eat well too, so we got that going for us.
